Position: Social Worker
Duty Station: Fik Woreda, Erer Zone, Somali Region
Reports to: GBV Project Officer
Employer: Qumen Women’s Development Association (QWDA)
Contract Type: Full-time, 12-month contract (renewable)

About QWDA:
Qumen Women’s Development Association (QWDA) is a women-led Ethiopian NGO founded in 2006 and headquartered in Jijiga, the capital of the Somali Region. QWDA empowers marginalized women and girls through gender equality initiatives, reproductive health programs, GBV prevention and response, HIV/AIDS interventions, and socio-economic development.
QWDA has successfully implemented impactful, donor-funded projects across the Somali Region, reaching thousands of women and girls. The organization is committed to transparent, inclusive, and merit-based recruitment that ensures fairness and equal opportunity for all candidates. QWDA is currently implementing a UNICEF-funded GBV project in Fik Woreda, targeting IDPs and host communities. QWDA is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill Social Worker.
Provide psychosocial support to GBV survivors.
Conduct home visits, needs assessments, and safety planning.
Work with families and communities for survivor reintegration.
Facilitate group counseling, resilience sessions, and community education.
Refer and link clients to health, legal, and livelihood services.
Qualifications and Experience:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related social sciences field. Specialized training in psychosocial support, community counseling, or gender-based programming is an asset.
Minimum 2 years of experience delivering psychosocial support, counseling, or child protection services in humanitarian or community development settings. Prior experience working with IDPs, returnees, or GBV survivors is a strong asset.
Prior work with displaced populations or GBV survivors preferred.
Required Skills:
Strong interpersonal and counseling skills.
Ability to engage with diverse community members.
Commitment to confidentiality and survivor-centered approaches.
Fluency in Somali and working knowledge of English.
