Job Description

The Director of Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation (PME) will lead the strategic planning, performance tracking, and evaluation of all companies under mining cluster operations. This role ensures alignment with MIDROC Investment Group’s corporate objectives by developing long-term plans, setting KPIs, monitoring progress, and recommending data-driven improvements. The PME Director will work closely with senior leadership to enhance operational efficiency, investment decision-making, and business growth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Business Development

  • Lead the development of the Mining Cluster’s 5-year strategic plan, annual business plans, and growth initiatives.

  • Conduct market and industry analysis to identify opportunities for expansion, diversification, and operational optimization.

  • Support new investment evaluations, feasibility studies, and business case development.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Design and implement a cluster-wide performance management framework (KPIs, dashboards, scorecards).

  • Track financial, operational, and sustainability metrics across all seven companies under mining cluster.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports for executive leadership and DCEO review.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct post-implementation reviews of major projects, investments, and operational changes.

  • Identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities through data analysis and benchmarking.

  • Recommend corrective actions and strategic adjustments to enhance profitability and efficiency.

Budgeting & Resource Allocation Support

  • Collaborate with the Finance Department of each company under the cluster to align budgets with strategic priorities.

  • Monitor capital and operational expenditure against planned targets.

Stakeholder Engagement & Governance

  • Work with company-level PME teams to ensure consistent reporting and strategy execution.

  • Present findings and recommendations to the Cluster DCEO and Group Leadership.

  • Liaise with government agencies, industry regulators, and external consultants as needed.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Economics, Mining Engineering, or related field.

  • Experience: 10+ years in strategic planning, business analysis, or performance management, preferably in mining, natural resources, or heavy industries.

· Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise in data analysis, KPIs, and ERP systems.

  • Experience in corporate strategy, feasibility studies, and investment appraisal.

  • Knowledge of mining sector dynamics, regulations, and ESG considerations is a plus.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior executives.

  • Language: Fluency in English and Amharic (additional languages are a plus).
