Job Description
The Finance Director for the Mining Cluster will lead the financial strategy, planning, and management across all seven mining companies under the cluster. This role ensures financial discipline, risk management, compliance, and value creation while aligning with MIDROC Investment Group’s overall corporate objectives. The Finance Director will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, tax, and investment decisions, providing strategic insights to the mining cluster DCEO and executive leadership team.
Financial Strategy & Leadership
Develop and implement financial strategies to drive profitability, cost efficiency, and sustainable growth across the companies under Mining Cluster.
Provide strategic financial guidance to the Cluster DCEO and company-level Finance teams.
Lead capital structuring, investment analysis, and funding strategies for operations and expansion projects.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Oversee cluster-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling for the Mining Cluster.
Monitor financial performance against targets & standards, identifying risks and opportunities.
Prepare consolidated financial reports for executive management and DCEO review.
Cash Flow Management
Optimize liquidity, working capital, and financing strategies across the cluster.
Manage relationships with banks, investors, and financial institutions.
Ensure efficient cash flow management to support operational needs.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with Ethiopian financial regulations, tax laws, and international accounting standards (IFRS).
Implement robust internal controls and risk mitigation frameworks.
Oversee audit processes and liaise with external auditors.
Mergers, Acquisitions & Investments
Evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
Lead financial due diligence and integration of new investments.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
Manage and mentor finance teams across the companies under mining cluster, fostering a high-performance culture.
Collaborate with operational leaders to align financial and business strategies.
Engage with government agencies, investors, and industry partners on financial matters.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent) is required.
Experience: Minimum 12+ years in senior financial leadership, preferably in mining, natural resources, or heavy industries. Experience in multi-company financial management is a plus.
Technical Skills: Strong expertise in financial modeling, IFRS, tax planning, ERP systems and investment analysis.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead finance teams in a complex, multi-company environment.
Language: Fluency in English and Amharic (additional languages are a plus).
