But every idea might not see the daylight of success without hard work and diligence. 15 years ago, Horra Trading was just an idea in the mind of Mr. Adem Kedir who meticulously worked day and night to turn it into a reality in 2005, basing himself on his extensive skill and knowledge in coffee and coffee trade. Mr. Adem Kedir’s coffee trade career started as the succeeding generation from his grandfather Mr. Abbahawa and his father Mr. Kedir Hadjji Hassan in Ethiopia. As the third-generation successor of the family coffee business, Mr. Adem has made the leap from his involvement in traditional and domestic coffee market to international coffee trade by forming his own business entity by the name of Horra Trading in 2005.

What was started as a simple trading business entity in 2005, Horra Trading has made it possible to create diversified businesses under Horra Corporate Group. Currently, Horra Corporate Group business portfolio includes coffee and oil seeds export, coffee plantation, automotive assembly, import and distribution, propylene technology manufacturing, technology, real estate development and transit and forwarding. Currently, Horra Corporate Group is led by the CEO, Mr. Adm Kedir, and by qualified and experienced professionals, with 550 permanent staff members and 800 temporary workers working in the corporate office and in different business units.

We are currently looking for highly experienced Accounting & Finance professionals who will have a critical role in the company tactical and operational duties.

Purpose of the Job: 

The Finance Manager will provide accurate and timely financial information, thoughtful business insights and analytics to ensure that business leaders are effective in creating and executing the business strategy and operating plan.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • General

    • Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with the company's import and export business objectives.

    • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, monitoring performance against budgets and identifying variances.

    • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing strategic insights to senior management for informed decision-making.

    • Manage cash flow, working capital, and foreign exchange exposure effectively, given the nature of international trade.

    • Perform financial modeling and investment analysis for new projects, market expansion, or import/export ventures.

  • Financial Operations & Reporting: 

    • Oversee all financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.

    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Ethiopian accounting standards.

    • Supervise the month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Taxation & Compliance: 

    • Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian tax laws (VAT, income tax, withholding tax, etc.), customs regulations, and other relevant legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to import and export activities.

    • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of all tax returns and statutory filings.

    • Stay updated on changes in fiscal and labor legislation in Ethiopia and their implications for the company.

  • Team Leadership & Development: 

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.

    • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance department.

    • Collaborate effectively with other departments (logistics, sales, procurement, HR & Facility) to streamline operations and enhance profitability. 

Job Requirements

  • Education Qualification: Master’s or BA Degree in Accounting or Finance, or in other related disciplines. 

  • Work Experience: At least 6(Six) years of demonstrated work experience out of which 2 (two) years is in a managerial/supervisory position for master's degree holders or at least 8(Eight) years of demonstrated work experience out of which 2 (two) years is in managerial/supervisor position for BA holders.

  •  Proven experience in an Export & Import company is a plus. 

  • Knowlege of additional Local Language is a plus.

  •  Skills

    • Strong leadership and team management skills.

    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.

    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

    • High level of proficiency in IFRS. 

    • Time management and organization skills.
