Our programmes in Ethiopia include:

  • Eye Health – preventing blindness and promoting eye health for all.

  • Inclusive Education – ensuring children with disabilities receive quality, inclusive education.

  • Inclusive Economic Empowerment – ensuring that barriers are removed for men and women with disabilities to access decent work.

We focus on the poorest and hardest to reach because that’s where we will have the biggest impact. In Ethiopia, our country strategy for the year 2030 focuses on Eye Health, Inclusive Economic Empowerment, Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), Inclusive Education and Humanitarian Action. Advocacy and disability inclusion are cross cutting theme. Currently, Light for the World Ethiopia is supporting projects in Addis Ababa City Administration, Amhara, Tigray, Oromia, Sidama, and SNNP regions.We are in the process of expanding our team in Ethiopia and looking for a committed person to fill the role below and be part of this growth.

Reports To: Regional Program Coordinator

Employment type :6-month Contract with possibility of extension up on availability of fund and performance

Role profile:

Field Level Project Coordinator will lead Light for the World’s NTDs program structured contribution to health system strengthening through integrated program planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, data management, reporting and knowledge management. You will support districts in their quest to maintain high coverage through active community participation in program management. He/she will also be responsible in ensuring appropriate tracking of project results towards complementing the achievement of the organization’s mission and vision through imparting new values and innovations into the LFTW ‘s interventions. He/she also supports districts in their quest to clear their estimated TT elimination threshold, keep high MDA coverages through active community participation in program management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify entry points for NTDs to actively contribute to health system strengthening (HSS).

  • Promotes full integration of NTDs intervention into existing Government and other stakeholders’ relevant structures (education, health, water, construction, community development, etc.) and processes.

  • Actively engages the Regional Health and Education bureaus and any other relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment of planned specific NTDs interventions with existing plans, structures and processes.

  • Support and coordinate the establishment of WASH-NTDs integration technical working groups up to the district level to ensure sustainable program outcome.

  • Advises other colleagues from the Country Office on possible opportunities to ensure planning of NTDs is perfectly integrated with existing relevant sectoral plans at regional level.

  • Actively works with the regional health Bureau to ensure that implemented activities contribute to strengthening existing systems and do not create/encourage parallel systems.

  • Translates nationally agreed strategies of NTDs contributing to HSS into measurable activities.

  • Identify new/missed opportunities of NTDs to contribute to HSS and adapt plans accordingly.

  • Identify entry points for NTDs program to actively engage community structures for their participation in program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

  • Closely works with Districts to identify key messages destined to communities for maximum community active participation in program activities including MDA and TT case management.

  • Links with other health interventions to create synergies and improve program coverage.

  • Analyses/advises on relevant studies that could help to improve community active participation in TT surgery service provision and MDAs.

  • Recommends effective strategies and tools for community engagement and assesses their impact for adaptation as relevant.

  • Promotes embedment of NTDs Program processes and learnings into organizational processes.

  • Actively promote potential areas of collaboration between NTDs and other Light for the World’s supported programs.

  • Documents effective community and other stakeholder’s engagement strategies and tools for national and global learnings.

  • Ensure all TT surgery related activities are recorded and reported.

  • Ensures all government sector offices and community engagement activities are recorded and reported.

  • Diligently work with the respective HMIS staff for proper recording and reporting of NTDs program indicators.

  • Promotes addition of relevant NTDs program indicators into the existing HMIS reporting system.

  • Promotes embedment of community engagement through the NTDs Program into organizational processes.

  • Internal promotion of work done by the NTDs team and program to contribute for HSS.

  • Documents the learnings drawn from program implementation and disseminates to internal audiences.

  • Perform Other duties as assigned by Line manager.

Job Requirements

Qualification, Skills, and experience

  • BSC/master’s degree in public health (MPH) or other health related field of study with 5/3 years of demonstrated experience respectively for BSC and MSC working in health and community health development activities with government and non-government institutions. experiences in INGOs setting are preferable.

  • Field level health project management and implementation experience, preferably on TT surgery management is required.

  • Project planning, monitoring and evaluation skills are required.

  • Flexibility and capable of handling and appropriately prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated capacity to work well both independently and collaboratively within teams.

  • Ability to interact effectively and positively with all levels of internal and external clients and colleagues.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in English and excellent attention to detail
