Job Description

Anbessa Travel is one of the leading tour operators, car rental, and M.I.C.E Operators with over 13 years of experience in the industry. We are expanding our travel and event management services and are looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Event Sales and Business Development Officer to join our team.

Salary: Based on the company’s salary scale.

Location: Addis Ababa, head office Qualifications:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales & Business Development:

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve organizational targets for event sales and business growth.

  • Identify new business opportunities in the event, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and corporate travel sectors.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and industry partners.

  • Train and mentor the sales team to enhance performance and meet sales objectives.

  • Monitor sales performance, analyze trends, and provide regular reports to senior management. Event Planning & Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute corporate events, conferences, weddings, and other special events.

  • Liaise with clients to understand their event requirements, budget, and expectations.

  • Source and negotiate with vendors (venues, caterers, decorators, AV teams, etc.) to ensure high-quality and cost-effective event services.

  • Oversee event logistics, including venue setup, transportation, accommodation, and on-site coordination.

  • Ensure seamless execution of events while maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.

  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise before or during events

Marketing & Market Research:

  • Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.

  • Analyze market data to identify growth potential and areas for improvement.

  • Work on digital marketing strategies (social media, email campaigns, SEO) to promote event services and increase sales.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials, proposals, and event portfolios.

Customer Relationship & Retention:

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing client needs and resolving issues promptly.

  • Implement feedback mechanisms to improve service quality and client experience.

  • Develop and execute customer retention strategies, including loyalty programs and follow-up engagements. Reporting & Strategy:

  • Prepare and present sales reports, event performance reviews, and business forecasts to senior management.

  • Recommend innovative strategies to expand the company’s event and travel services.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management, Business Administration, Event Management, Hospitality, or a related field.

  • Expereince: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in event sales, business development, and event planning, preferably in travel, hospitality, or event management.

  • Strong negotiation, communication, project management, and leadership skills.

  • Proven track record in organizing successful events and achieving sales targets.

  • Proficiency in digital marketing, CRM tools, and event management software is a plus.
