Job Description
The service technician is capable of removal and installation of components by following the appropriate service manual; performs basic servicing of equipment; could assemble and install attachments sold and serviced by the company; capable of safely and efficiently performing basic cutting and welding functions.
Responsible for the completion of service work
Must be able to meet all the requirements of a trainee as well as work effectively with less supervision. Ensures that work assignments are completed according to the time requirement guidelines. The technician is capable of removal and installation of components by following the appropriate service manual. Such components include by are not limited to: fuel systems, turbochargers, water pumps, air compressors, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic cylinders, engines, transmissions, and torque converters. Performs basic servicing of equipment per lubrication, Operators and Maintenance Guides (LOM). This includes, but is not limited to: oil changes on all components, valve adjustments, linkage adjustments, nozzle testing, and water pump and turbo replacement. The technician is capable of safely and efficiently performing basic cutting and welding functions.
Ability to install attachments sold and serviced by the company
Assures proper installation of attachments to equipment such as snow wings, plows, rippers, hammers, buckets, and quick couplers.
Complies with routine reporting requirements
Completes appropriate paperwork regarding repair assignments. Such as work orders, warranty paperwork and tracking of equipment time.
Maintains communications with Branch Supervisor/Shop Manager regarding work orders
Establishes and maintains communications with the branch supervisor/shop managers regarding assigned work orders and pertinent details regarding those work orders
Responsible for maintaining an organized and safe workstation
Conducts an on-going inspection of work area, organizing workstation and removing unsafe conditions.
Performs other miscellaneous duties as required
Gives assistance to other department personnel as required. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Branch Supervisor/Shop Manager. May be assigned to specialize in specific areas.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Candidates with an associate’s degree in diesel/heavy equipment repair and/or related work experience are given preference. 8 years of experience in a similar position is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
