Job Description

Main Purpose

Assist the Nursing Activity Manager (NAM) or Medical Team Leader (MTL) in the im-plementation, management, and supervision of iccm community health workers' activi-ties.

Identify and report challenges, strengths, and weaknesses of the iccm program to the NAM.

Participate in field visits to villages and IDP camps to assess the need for iccm imple-mentation, supporting in data collection and situation analysis.

Ensure effective communication with local authorities and communities, upholding MSF’s principles while representing the organization and during MSF activities|

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the implementation and standardization of MSF clinical policies, tools, and hygiene protocols in order to minimize clinical risks and to guarantee the quality of patient care management. Promoting and maintaining confidentiality regarding all patient cases and records 

  • Participation in the planning and supervision, in close coordination with other supervisors, the HR processes (sizing, staff shifts, recruitment, training, evaluation, development and communication) of the team in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required, improve people triage capabilities, their motivation and commitment and their active participation in teaching the targeted population on therapeutic and preventive protocols.

  • In cases of emergency, carrying out first aid care and treatment according to protocols in order to reduce mortality rates 

  • Monitoring the Records in the individual patients card and registration books, all performed medical activities (drugs prescribed, lab results, vaccination status, epidemiological activity, doses, etc.) keeping data traceability in order to ensure patients treatment continuity. 

  • Participating in data collection and reporting when required 

  • Knowing and implementing Patient Therapeutic Education (PTE), i.e. keeping contact with all patients, providing them information regarding their health state and responding to their questions. 

  • Knowing and promoting the proper application of Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Kit and Sexually Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol.

MSF Section/Context-Specific Accountabilities

  • Monitor the quality of care provided by community health workers using provided tools and checklists.

  • Assess mentorship needs during supervision visits and provide on the spot coaching and guidance.

  • Organize and participate in full day planned training sessions for community health workers.

  • Assist in organizing and planning community health workers’ tasks to ensure effective service delivery.

  • Ensure community health workers adhere to iccm criteria and Ministry of Health (MoH) protocols

  • Evaluate the quality of counselling and health education provided to patients by community health workers.

  • Oversee the management of severe cases and referrals by community health workers.

  • Ensure accurate and complete filling of record books by community health workers.

  • Monitor the professional behaviour and interactions of community health workers with patients and caregivers.

  • Ensure adherence to hygiene practices (e.g., handwashing, material sanitation, and glove use) by community health workers.

  • Ensure the accurate and complete collection of data by community health workers.

  • Assist community health workers in completing and submitting weekly data sheets.

  • Submit data to the Data Officer and NAM for analysis.

  • Support the analysis of program data to evaluate the program's effectiveness.

  • Contribute to the writing of support supervision and monthly iccm reports and submit them to the NAM.

  • Analyse medicine consumption trends in relation to patient numbers.

  • Assist with stock counts/inventories, investigate discrepancies, and take corrective actions as needed.

  • Collaborate with community health workers to calculate and prepare orders to ensure adequate stock levels and avoid disruptions.

  • Submit orders to the NAM for validation and receive medication/materials from the pharmacy/warehouse.

  • Support community health workers in managing stock, ensuring safe storage, checking expiry dates, and proper stock rotation

  • Ensure timely delivery of orders to community health workers and support the reception process.

  • Participate in focus group discussions to assess community acceptance and perceptions, and to strengthen community engagement.

  • Attend health-related meetings in IDP camps with MSF, MoH, and community leaders.

  • Report any challenges, unusual situations, or important developments to the NAM.

  • Remuneration and Benefits:

    • Starting gross salary : USD 1,009 (One Thousand and Nine US Dollars)

Job Requirements

   EducationDesirable previous clinical supervision experience of at least one year, For OCA: Es-sential, 2 years of relevant working experienceExperience

  • Essential, proven work experience of at least two years in relevant and similar jobs. 

  • Desirable working experience with MSF or other NGOs, in developing countries
