Job Description
Under the general direction of the General Manager, plans, organizes, coordinates, supervises , research and product development and shelf life determination/stability study activities of the Company; assesses and identifies training, research and product development needs of the food and agricultural sectors; and ensures the development of operation programs for identified areas of services and the provision of
the required human, material and financial resources for the implementation.
Plans, organizes, directs and supervises the execution of the, research, product development and shelf life determination/stability study functions of the Company;
Formulates policies and procedures pertaining to research, product development and shelf life determination/stability study services of the company and ensures their proper implementation upon approval;
Directs the preparation of long, medium and short term operation plans of the training, consultancy, research, product development and shelf life determination/stability study services and ensures their implementation upon approval;
Ensures the establishment of systems and procedures for the smooth and proper execution of the different functions of the department;
Directs the assessment and identification of the research, product development and shelf life determination/stability study needs of the food and agricultural sectors of the country and selects and prioritizes areas for the provision of the services;
Directs and oversees the development of programs and materials for training, consultancy, research, product development and shelf life determination/stability study services provided by the company;
Promotes and popularizes the research, product development and shelf life determination/stability study services provided by the company;
Directs review of customer’s service requests, negotiations and preparation of professional service contacts for the provision of the different research, product development and shelf life determination/stability study services provided by the department;
Searches, identifies and keeps a roster of competent national and international experts and scientists, including in-house experts, for conducting product development on call basis;
Negotiates with and prepares service contracts for experts and scientists selected to conduct undertake professional services on case by case basis;
Directs the organization, operation and supervision of a reputable library on food and agricultural sciences and technologies;
Ensures that the department and its library is adequately organized and facilitated with the proper manpower, equipment, materials and financial resources and is operating smoothly in performing its functions and meeting its objectives;
Identifies and collects research and development publications, reports and documents on food and agricultural sciences and technologies;
Keeps track of important scientific national and international workshops, seminars and meetings, collects information on these and disseminate timely and as appropriate;
Ensures that employees continuously get the required skill development and updating trainings;
Keeps abreast with the latest technological developments in food and agricultural sciences and technologies;
Prepares and submits periodic reports on the performances and activities of the research, product development and shelf life determination/stability study activities of the company;
Evaluates the performances of employees directly reporting to him/her; and
Carries out other duties assigned by the Chief Executive Director.
4.1 Education:MSc or BSc in Food Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology or related
4.2 Experience: 8 or 10 years of experience in relevant fields ,of which at least 3 years in Managerial Positions
Who has studied recognized research paper in food safety & related
5. COMPETENCIES
Comprehensive knowledge of the food and agricultural sectors of the country;
Thorough knowledge of agricultural and food laboratory services;
Excellent business-oriented verbal ,visual and written communication skills;
Strong ability to solve challenging problems without operational support;
Ability to coordinate and direct a variety of activities
Ability to trainand supervise staff and prepare instruction manuals
Good interpersonal communication skill
