Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Auto Services Foreman, the Senior Auto-Electrician I, is responsible for servicing and maintaining electrical and electronics components and systems of vehicles in a safe, efficient and economical manner; working to the highest standards to achieve an acceptable level of work and maintain quality standards at all times; guiding a sub- crew of auto electricians on the auto electric works.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Makes sure that all vehicles received for repair and servicing are requested by customers and have a work order;

2. Ensures the tools and materials required for repair purposes are available;

3. Services and maintains electrical and electronics components and systems of vehicles as per job card utilizing the necessary tools, equipment, and facilities in a safe, efficient and economical manner within the standard job time defined by the company;

4. Guides a sub-crew of engaged in Auto Electrical repair works;

5. Tests, overhauls, modifies, repairs electrical and electronics components and systems, such as, alternator, starter etc.;

6. Installs electrical wiring of chassis and body electric in accordance with circuit diagram of vehicles and standard procedures;

7. Carries out repairs on vehicles safety, air conditioning, lighting, ignition, charging systems etc.; 

8. Carries out repair works on conventional and electronics control ignition system;

9. Diagnoses reported troubles in a logical and progressive manner by applying the appropriate techniques to determine the cause of malfunctioning of components and systems;

10. Carries out repair on vehicle safety,  lighting, air condition, charging etc. systems;

11. Reports to immediate supervisor additional defects discovered during repair, so that such defects are recorded on job card and repairs are carried out;

12. Performs tasks that requires higher skill and implements technical data to ensure that all repair works are performed per standard;

13. Provides professional advice and assistance to subordinates during fault/defects diagnosis;

14. Requests spare parts for vehicles under electrical repair upon the approval of the Shop Foreman;

15. Initiates requisitions for external service purchase and ensures conformity on the service;

16. Uses safe working practices and procedures at all times and in particular to comply with company safety regulations, including the wearing of protective clothing;

17. Takes good care of tools and assigned equipment and including safe operation of standard testing devices while using to detect and correct electrical malfunctions;\

18. Performs other related duties as required.

Job Requirements

From recognized college/TVET level V diploma in Auto-Electricity /Automotive Technology, relevant technical training and 2 years related work experience

Or

From recognized college/TVET level IV /10+3/ diploma in Auto-Electricity/ Automotive Technology, relevant technical training and 4 years related work experience
