The Senior Taxation & Reporting Officer, under the direct supervision of the Taxation and Reporting Manager, is responsible for ensuring accurate tax reporting, maintaining full compliance with local and international tax regulations, and supporting the organization in effective tax planning. The role also includes identifying tax risks, analyzing savings opportunities, monitoring legislative changes, and mentoring junior staff. The officer will also collaborate closely with finance, audit, and external tax authorities to ensure timely and efficient reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

•  Collaborate with tax officers from the tax authority to resolve tax-related issues, by the guidance provided by the immediate Manager.

•  Assist in planning and forecasting tax obligations, ensuring the company can meet its short- and long-term tax commitments.

•  Identify and report high-risk tax areas or non-compliance concerns to the Taxation and Reporting Manager regularly.

•  Continuously identify and recommend legal tax-saving opportunities and deductions.

•  Track updates and amendments to tax laws, regulations, and practices, and promptly inform the Taxation and Reporting Manager.

•  Analyze applicable tax legislation and provide guidance to minimize liabilities while ensuring full compliance.

•  Prevent penalties by ensuring all tax payments and filings are made within prescribed deadlines.

•  Maintain organized and complete records for all tax filings, provisions, audit documents, and related paperwork.

•  Resolves audit queries effectively (desk & Compressive audits)

•  Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports for VAT, income tax, pension contributions, and withholding tax, as required by regulatory authorities.

•  Support in the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports (e.g., VAT, income tax, withholding tax, and pension).

•  Assist with external and internal tax audits, including compiling relevant documentation and responding to queries.

•  Maintains tax & ledger account reconciliations

•  Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications & Experience 

•  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Required)

•  Training in Ethiopian tax law, IFRS, or corporate tax compliance (Desirable)

•  Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in tax compliance, tax reporting, or corporate finance

•  At least 2 years in a senior or supervisory tax-related role

•  Experience working with the Ethiopian Revenue and Customs Authority (ERCA) and external auditors

•  Demonstrated experience in tax audit preparation, tax reconciliation,

•  Strong understanding of:

•  Ethiopian tax regulations (VAT, withholding tax, income tax, pension, etc.)

•  Corporate income tax returns and reconciliation
