Job Description
Geneva Global Ethiopia (GGE) is an international non-governmental organization registered under the Agency of Civil Society Organization with certificate No 1724. GGE has been working in the education sector since 2011 G.C particularly on accelerated education program and EiE. Currently GGE is seeking candidates for a Regional Project Manager role for an upcoming emergency response program for IDPs and host communities in Ethiopia with specific emergency-affected target woredas and schools of Oromia and Amhara regions.
GGE is planning to implement a Multi-Sectoral Education in Emergency support to conflict-affected school children in West Wellega of Oromia. GGE is currently recruiting a highly motivated Regional Project Manager for Oromia.
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager or Education Programs Director at GGE country office, She/he is expected to coordinate and facilitate primary schools from woredas in the aforementioned respective regions regarding the implementation of program components including Accelerated Learning Program/ALP, Accelerated School Readiness /ASR and Activity Based Learning/ABL, program hosting classrooms, as well as capacity building, on Child Protection, Gender inclusion, GBV, Life skills, disability inclusion/CWD, community engagement and dialogue, social behavioral change/SBC, as well as helping to access safe WASH facilities in their respective woredas to ensure maintaining quality standards, and ensuring resilience.
1. Program Implementation and Coordination
Plan, coordinate and oversee the improvement of learning environment through the provision of disability accessible and safe learning spaces with gender-sensitive and inclusive WASH facilities.
Coordinate and get involved in need assessment of new project proposal developments,
Coordinate and facilitate both the soft and hard components of the project for targeted populations.
Facilitate regular assessment on the situation of IDPs and the hosting community, compile, analyze, interpret data, and report to the Country office Program Manager for update and action.
Organize daily activities based on the goals of the project.
Work in close collaboration with other departments, field staff, as country offices to implement program activities in a most effective and efficient manner.
Contribute to monitoring, evaluating and assessing the programs' strengths and weaknesses.
On behalf of GGE, meet with stakeholders to discuss program status and goals including the National and Regional Education Cluster.
Mobilize parents/caregivers, teachers, boys and girls including CWDs engaged to address gender (including GBV/PSEA), inclusion, child protection, peace/social cohesion, positive parenting, and behavioral and normative changes, through community dialogue, festivals and events.
Engage parents/caregivers to ensure accountability to affected population.
Establish feedback-gathering platforms to help conflict-affected boys, girls, children with disabilities, and adolescents enrolled in donor-supported learning spaces.
2. System strengthening
Develop and implement a targeted plan for strengthening education service delivery systems through this EiE project. Some major tasks are:
Advocacy and Communication: Enhance communication and advocacy to ensure conflict-affected children realize their right to education.
Collaboration with Government Structures: Work closely with various government departments like WEO, Women & Children Affairs to implement the program effectively.
School Coordination: Coordinate and follow up with targeted primary and per-primary schools to implement program components.
Capacity Building: Provide training for facilitators, teachers, school leaders, PTSA, and supervisors/EiE officers focusing on child protection, gender inclusion, GBV, life skills, disability inclusion, community engagement, and social behavioral change.
Partnerships: Collaborate with program partners and other stakeholders.
Education Community of Practice/ECoP Establish and support education communities of practice in each target school.
Translation and Dissemination: Translate important documents into local languages and ensure their distribution.
Classroom Management: Support facilitators in effective classroom management and teaching methods.
Representation and Meetings: Represent the organization in external meetings and organizing programmatic visits as required.
3. Spending Planning and Tracking:
Develop Detailed Plans: Once the budget is released, create detailed activity and spending plans. Break down the budget into specific activities and allocate funds accordingly.
Prioritize Activities: Ensure that high-priority activities are funded first to avoid any disruptions in critical areas.
Purchase Request (PR) tracking: to monitor procurement processes and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
Forecasting: Use forecasting techniques to predict future financial needs and adjust plans accordingly.
4. Communication:
Communication and Budget Management: Regular communication with field workers and effective budget management.
Regular Updates: Provide regular updates to all stakeholders, including field workers and the country office team, to ensure everyone is informed about the project’s status.
Feedback Mechanisms: Establish feedback mechanisms to gather input from team members and stakeholders, which can help improve project implementation.
5. Evidence Generation, Monitoring and Evaluation:
Implement robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track progress and address any issues promptly through:
Data Collection and Reporting: Collect data from target schools and Woredas, analyzing it, and submitting regular performance reports. (monthly, and quarterly) through preparing high level regular reports and updates.
Beneficiary Tracking: Maintain gender disaggregated records of beneficiaries and drafting regular reports.
Conduct regular supportive supervision at each target school and community level.
Report writing: Develop and submit monthly program performance reports and quarterly reports
Project Timelines: Develop and adhere to project timelines to ensure activities are completed on schedule.
Execute additional tasks as required by the Geneva Global Ethiopia country office.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Project Management, Social Sciences, Education, Sociology, and related fields of study.
Experience: with a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 5 (five)/with a Master’s degree, 3 years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian project implementation including Education in Emergency projects.
Technical skills: Knowledge and experience in formal and non-formal education, and experience facilitating teacher training
NGO experience will be an advantage
Experience in handling emergency projects
Computer literate with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Communication skills: Fluent in spoken and written English and Amharic and Afan Oromo language.
Relationship building: The ability to build relationships with key government and NGO partners.
Problem-solving: The ability to identify problems and develop appropriate solutions.
Interpersonal skills: Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Good technical and report-writing skills
Good communication and social skills
