We are pleased to introduce you to Chora Gas Chemical Products Factory (CGCPF), one of Ethiopia’s pioneering industrial manufacturers. Our company was originally established in 1938 E.C. in Addis Ababa under the name SEDE, founded by four foreign nationals and one Ethiopian citizen with an initial capital of just 1,500 birr. From its early years, the factory focused on producing Oxygen and Acetylene gases, Sedex Bleach, and wax products.

In 1976 E.C., CGCPF became a government-owned enterprise under the National Chemical Corporation, where our role was focused on production and inventory, while procurement and sales were managed centrally. With the dissolution of the corporation in 1985 E.C., we gained full operational autonomy under the Public Enterprise Service Authority (PESA).

In line with the government’s privatization program under Proclamation No. 146/1998, our factory was fully transferred to private ownership and is now proudly administered by AMAGA Private Limited Company.

Today, CGCPF is registered and licensed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry under Ethiopian trade law. We are committed to building a world-class, value-driven organization, and are currently implementing a fully integrated ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System to enhance our operations and ensure the highest standards.

Job Summary:

Chora Gas and Oxygen Factory is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IT Officer to lead and support the company’s information technology infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing IT operations, managing networks and systems, ensuring data security, and providing technical support to staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Plan, implement, and manage IT infrastructure (hardware, software, networks, and servers).

• Ensure system and data security through firewalls, backups, and access controls.

• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues (hardware/software/networking).

• Supervise IT support staff and coordinate IT-related activities across departments.

• Manage ERP systems, ensure uptime, and liaise with external vendors for troubleshooting.

• Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.

• Provide user training and orientation on new systems and applications.

• Monitor system performance and recommend upgrades/improvements.

• Maintain inventory of IT assets and ensure proper documentation.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive IT experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.

• Proven experience in network administration, system management, and cyber security.

• Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or customized platforms).

• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, database management (SQL/MySQL), firewalls, and backup systems.
