Position Title: Coordinator- SBCC, Give Well - Inline Chlorination Project ( Proposal Recruitment)

Duration of contract: Indefinite based on performance and availability of fund
Remuneration: As per the organization pay scale plus other PSI/Ethiopia staff benefits

We are looking for an experienced Coordinator, SBCC to lead and manage strategic communication activities for an anticipated 15-month pilot project focused on promoting the use of inline chlorination to ensure the delivery of safe and quality water to communities in Amhara and Oromia. The coordinator will play a key role in increasing community awareness, fostering behaviour change in safe water handling and usage, improving the supply and distribution of chlorination products, and building the knowledge base required to scale up inline chlorination practices. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge and proven experience in water safety, hygiene promotion, and behaviour change strategies within WASH programming. He/she will have a strong record of successfully managing partnerships and coordinating with government stakeholders, development partners, and community organizations. Capacity-building and mentoring others in SBCC approaches is a critical aspect of this role.

In close coordination with Marketing and Communication Department and WASH team, the SBCC Coordinator will:
Design and implement effective SBCC strategies that enhance understanding and acceptance of inline chlorination as a safe, affordable, and sustainable water treatment method among local stakeholders and target communities
Lead behaviour changes campaigns with Woreda WASH Officers to increase household adoption of inline chlorination, with a strong focus on health benefits, correct use, and safe storage and handling of treated water
Facilitate strategic partnerships with government agencies, community leaders, NGOs, and private sector actors to promote acceptance and support the scale-up of inline chlorination initiatives
Work closely with the woreda WASH officer on community mobilization and outreach efforts to create demand, address misconceptions, and reinforce positive social norms regarding the use of chlorinated water
Design and deliver capacity-building programs for local government officials, health extension workers, and private sector representatives on SBCC techniques related to inline chlorination promotion
Lead formative research and behavioural assessments to identify key barriers, enablers, and community perceptions, and integrate findings into customized SBCC interventions
Collaborate with the M&E Coordinator to establish tools and mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating SBCC performance and outcomes, and adapt strategies as needed for enhanced effectiveness
Work closely with the Marketing and Communication team to develop culturally appropriate and audience-specific IEC materials (e.g., posters, flyers, radio spots, and digital media) to support community engagement and demand creation
Promote private sector engagement and support the development of sustainable market-based distribution models that align supply of inline chlorination products with community needs
Contribute to policy dialogue and advocacy initiatives aimed at fostering an enabling environment for the broader adoption and integration of inline chlorination technologies within national WASH frameworks
At least four (4) years with a master’s or six (6) years of experience with a first degree in, Health Promotion, Social Work, Development Studies, Sociology, Public Health, or related discipline
experience in planning and managing SBCC interventions within health or WASH-focused programs; practical fieldwork experience is a distinct advantage
Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with government counterparts, local organizations, and development partners
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English and Amharic
Demonstrated passion and commitment to WASH initiatives, particularly in promoting inline chlorination as a sustainable water treatment solution
Capacity to work under minimal supervision while fostering team collaboration and a participatory work environment
Prior experience in supervisory roles and hands-on implementation of field activities is considered an asset
Willingness and ability to travel regularly to project implementation sites
Skilled in conflict resolution and maintaining constructive stakeholder dialogue
