ASSIGNMENT TITLE: Temporary Finance Assistant
PERIOD OF PEROMANCE: on/about July 20, 2025, to November 26, 2025
LOCATIONS: Addis Ababa
LEVEL OF EFFORT: up to 90 days
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Feed the Future Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture is a 5-year project that aims increase access to healthy diets for Ethiopians, particularly for women and children. Feed the Future Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture has three intermediate results:
Increased availability of safe, diverse, nutritiousfoods
Increased incomes in the food and agriculture sectors
Increased convenience and desirability of safe, diverse, nutritious foods
Together, these intermediate results will improve the competitiveness, inclusiveness, resilience, and sustainability of Ethiopia’s food and agriculture system.
ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW
Objective
To ensure the smooth continuation of financial operations and maintain the efficiency of our finance department during a team member’s leave, we will require a qualified temporary finance assistant for up to 90 days. This includes carrying out all assigned activities in compliance with US government and RTI rules and regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintaining accurate accounting records by tracking expenses and financial transactions, processing payments, and supporting monthly reconciliations.
Preparing USAID value added tax (VAT) refund requests, following up on VAT corrections with the Ministry of Revenues, and ensuring vendors' timely VAT declarations.
Managing tax reporting in the Ministry's e-tax and TASS systems, organizing and filing documents, disbursing vendor payments, collecting receipts, and entering data into QuickBooks.
Assist with payment vouchers, tax declarations, and other finance-related tasks as assigned.
ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES
Under this assignment, the consultant will be paid based on actual hours worked. The consultant must complete a timesheet to support hours worked in the format provided by RTI and submit both on a monthly basis.
Job Requirements
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
This assignment is open to individual consultants only who meet the below qualifications.
BA Degree in accounting.
Prior experience in finance assistant roles or similar.
Knowledge and experience in finance within International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs).
Prior experience in RTI finance is highly preferred.
Basic communication skills in English.
