Job Description

Purpose of the job:

To optimize cost, quality, and delivery of procurement goods and services by developing procurement plans, managing inventory levels and, implementing strategies to improve inventory accuracy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement annual and long-term procurement plans.

  • Collaborate with various departments to forecast procurement needs.

  • Monitor and adjust procurement plans as needed to accommodate changes.

  • Conduct comprehensive spend analysis and identify trends and opportunities for cost savings.

  • Develop and maintain procurement dashboards, reports, and metrics.

  • Provide regular reports to the senior management.

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction through strategic sourcing, demand management, and process improvements.

  • Analyze market trends, pricing fluctuations, and economic indicators.

  • Support negotiations with suppliers by providing data-driven insights and recommendations to achieve the best possible terms.

  • Collaborate with the finance department and verify the alignment of procurement activities with the company’s budgetary goals.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance procurement planning, analysis, and reporting efficiency.

  • Lead initiatives to automate routine tasks and reduce manual processes, improving accuracy and reducing lead times.

Generic Duties of the Position:

  • Develop the Department’s work plan and monitor their execution.

  • Identify and fulfill human resource requirements of the Department.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the Department.

  • Monitor and ensure the proper utilization of the Department’s budgets.

  • Lead the preparation of Departmental reports to relevant organs.

  • Support the development of subordinates through periodic performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, ongoing performance dialogue and feedback.

  • Represent the Department in internal and external relationships.

  • Take part in the group decision making process by forming part of different groups/committees.

Job Requirement

  • Qualifications and Experience: Master’s degree in Procurement and Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Management or related fields of study with a minimum of six (6) years of demonstrated experience, with at least four (4) years in a leadership role  OR Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Management or related fields of study with a minimum of eight (8) years of demonstrated experience, with at least four (4) years in a leadership role
