ETHIO WETLANDS AND NATURAL RESOURCES ASSOCIATION
Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) is an Ethiopian Civil Society Organization, non-political, non-religious and not-for-profit working in areas of sustainable wetland/ natural resources management and livelihoods improvement with the aim to achieve the dual goals of environment and development in Ethiopia. EWNRA in partner and with financial support from Menschen für Menschen Switzerland is started the implementation of a three years (2024 – 2026) project starting January 2025. The project entitled: “Integrated Actions for Building Resilient Communities in Oromia Region, Ethiopia” is under implementation specifically in Hambela Wamena Woreda, West Gujj Zone of Oromia Regional State.
In order to continue the facilitate of the project implementation, EWNRA is looking for competent and well-experienced applicants to fill the Natural Resources Management Officer vacant post for Hambela Wamena Woreda.
Under supervision of and accountable to the Project Office Coordinator; the Natural Resources Management Officer will be in charge of project natural resources management activities to be implemented within the project intervention Kebeles in Hambela Wamena Woreda. S/he is responsible to coordinate and deliver technical support on watershed management activities, degraded land rehabilitation, area closure, seedling raising and planting, biophysical soil and water conservation activities, Vetiver grass promotion and related activities. Support the local communities to undertake biophysical soil and water conservation activities within EWNRA intervention watersheds in collaboration with kebeles level project staff; closely work in harmony with local communities. Undertakes field intervention activities, support area closure work, closely work with conservation cooperatives and associations, deliver technical support to local communities for establishing and managing community nurseries when deemed necessary, spearhead trainings for communities, development agents and project staffs on pertinent topics in relation to agro-forestry, NRM, compost making, Vetiver system development, nursery management, tree and woodlot management, and in issues related to sustainable wetland/ natural resources management and land use,

Salary: As per the organization’s scale
Terms of employment: 18 months contract based on successful performance with possible extension.

Qualifications and Experience: the potential candidate for the post should have Bachelor Degree from recognized Universities/Colleges in Natural Resources Management, Soil and Water Conservation, Rural Livelihoods and Development (with background in Agriculture), or combination of these and other closely related fields. Besides, s/he should have at least 6 years of demonstrable work experience in areas of Integrated Rural Development (IRD), Livelihoods and Food Security. NGO experience is an advantage
Additional Requirements For all positions:
Competency in computer applications of MS Offices packages is required.
Understanding and speaking local language, Afan Oromo is obligatory.
Cooperative, team player, gender sensitive and excellent in interpersonal relationships.
Have a strong commitment and openness to learn and share.
