Job Description

SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Bahir Dar is looking for competent Candidates to apply for the vacant positions that meets the requirements stated bellow.

Position summary

Under the direct supervision of SOS HGS Managing Principal, the incumbent has a responsibility for attracting, motivating, and retaining the most qualified talent by directing the administrative functions of the HR department. Due to the supervisory nature of this position, human resource managers are called upon to handle employee-related services, regulatory compliance, and employee relations, among many other tasks. He/she particularly is responsible for ensuring that business operations of the Social Business (SOS HGSs & KGs) conform to all applicable and relevant legal frameworks and requirements of the government and SOS CV Ethiopia. He/she will ensure compliance with all applicable human resource related laws and regulations. 

Job Requirement

Experience and Qualifications

  • BA Degree in Human Resource Management, Management or related and adequate work experience in business enterprises basically school business.

  • With a Minimum of 6 years’ experience in HR and Admin

  • Experience of managing staff and associated employment issues.

  • Must be familiar with laws and regulations governing Human Resources

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies 

  • Relevant computer software skills and familiarity with accounting software (including, minimum, standard applications in MS Office)

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and professional conflict resolution skill

  • Excellent planner and strategic thinker.

  • Excellent risk management and cost control skills. 

  • Ability to take responsibility for decisions made and to learn from experience. 

  • Ability to deliver timely results despite obstacles and limited resources. 

  • A strong grasp of all relevant legal and customer requirements and of how it applies to the role.

  • Excellent representation and communication skills including in the local languages of the beneficiaries and stakeholders

  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that all target groups are receiving ongoing, age-appropriate verbal or written information in relevant languages about SOS Children Village’s Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct.

  • Ensure that all support is provided in the best interest of the young person.

  • Responsible for participating in awareness-raising sessions and capacity-building training about safeguarding and the Code of Conduct and to prevent and protect young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination.

  • Support young people to make them understand the safeguarding risks and protection mechanisms.

  • Responsible to report any safeguarding suspicion, concern, allegation, or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. safeguarding reports should be made to the safeguarding team at the programme level and/or to the respective line manager.

  • Responsible for ensuring behaviours and all relationships are based on safeguarding and in line with the Code of Conduct and adhering to it in every situation.

  • Be vigilant about any possible form of abuse/harm, neglect, harassment, or exploitation against young people in their personal and professional lives.

  • Report any safeguarding incident or concern within 24 hours to the Incident 

  • Management Team, focal person or concerned party through the defined channels for reporting the allegation
