Job Description

Digaf Micro-finance Institution is a registered financial service company determined to transform the way financial services are delivered to everyone. Digaf has been providing short and medium-term financing to individuals and small enterprises in Ethiopia for more than a decade. Digafs team is continuously looking for innovative, technology-based, and efficient means for clients to access financial solutions. The company therefore looks at different ways of serving individuals who are excluded from financial services with the knowledge and information they have readily available for a credit appraisal.

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Digaf Microfinance is responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s marketing and brand strategies to support growth, enhance customer experience, and ensure consistent market relevance. The CMO leads all marketing efforts—including digital marketing, product promotion, customer engagement, and public relations—to strengthen brand identity and drive customer acquisition and retention.

Key Responsibilities 

Marketing Strategy Development:

Design and implement comprehensive marketing strategies that support the organization’s business objectives, product roadmaps, and growth targets. Adapt approaches based on market dynamics and customer insights.

Brand Identity & Positioning:
Ensure consistent representation of Digaf’s brand across all channels. Lead initiatives that reinforce trust, relevance, and differentiation in the marketplace.

Product Design & Go-to-Market Strategy:
Collaborate with product and innovation teams to influence product design, customer journey mapping, and feature prioritization. Drive go-to-market strategies for new and existing products to ensure strong market entry and sustained growth.

Needs Assessment & Experience Design:
Lead customer and market needs assessments to identify gaps and opportunities. Guide the creation of user-centered experiences, ensuring product-market fit and a seamless customer journey across touchpoints.

Digital Marketing Leadership:
Oversee digital campaigns across web, social media, content marketing, and mobile channels. Embrace data-driven and automation-based strategies to optimize digital reach and performance.

Customer Engagement & Loyalty Programs:
Design and implement engagement and retention strategies, including loyalty programs, personalized campaigns, and customer satisfaction initiatives.

Market Research & Competitive Intelligence:
Conduct continuous market and competitor analysis to inform decision-making. Translate insights into actionable strategies that drive innovation and positioning.

Public Relations & Corporate Communications:
Manage external communications, media relations, press releases, crisis response, and thought leadership content to ensure consistent and positive representation of Digaf.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with internal teams—including Product, IT, Customer Service, and Executive Leadership—to align marketing strategies with enterprise priorities and technological capabilities.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
Establish and monitor KPIs (e.g., brand awareness) to evaluate campaign success and inform strategic adjustments.

Budget Oversight & Resource Allocation:
Manage the marketing budget effectively, ensuring alignment of resources with strategic goals and high-impact initiatives.

Job Requirements

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (master’s degree or MBA preferred).

Experience:

  • 8+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience (preferably in financial services, fintech, or digital banking)

  • 3+ years in a senior leadership role

  • Proven expertise in digital transformation, brand strategy, and customer experience

  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills

  • Experience in market research, campaign automation, and budget management
