Job Description

Term of employment: contract

Duration: 19-20 months

Required number: 9 in total  (6 for  Addis, 1 for Adama, 1 for Harar and 1 in Jimma) health centers)

Salary; 25000 birr per month plus field allowance as per government regulation

About the ENABLE Project 

The ENABLE project is designed to promote healthy diets, physical activity, and reduce exposure to air pollution for pregnant women who reside in urban cities of Ethiopia by creating clean and supportive environment. The ENABLE project is dedicated to translating guidelines and evidence-based recommendations into practice through a combination of interventions, facilitation. As a core method of the project, facilitation focuses on enabling and supporting healthcare providers rather than prescribing solutions. By fostering collaboration and capacity-building, facilitators play a key role in driving meaningful and sustainable change in clinical settings. The project will take place in urban communities in four cities in Ethiopia: Addis Ababa, Adama, Harar, and Jimma.

Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Facilitator in the ENABLE project, you will:

  • Support healthcare providers in multiple antenatal care (ANC) clinics and health extension workers in implementing best practices.

  • Conduct monthly meetings with healthcare professionals to guide and empower them in addressing risk factors for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with a focus on promoting healthy eating, physical activity, and reducing indoor pollution.

  • Utilize facilitation methods to encourage problem-solving, self-reflection, and team-based improvements.

  • Collaborate with a network of facilitators to exchange knowledge and develop innovative strategies for implementation success.

  • Foster an inclusive atmosphere where participants feel comfortable sharing their ideas and perspectives.

  • Create channels for participants to share their experiences and suggestions, facilitating continuous improvement.

  • Actively engage participants, encouraging quieter members to share their thoughts and ensuring everyone has an opportunity to contribute.

  • Keep track of time to ensure that all agenda items are covered, while allowing for meaningful discussions.

  • Ensure that the purpose of the session is clearly communicated and understood by all participants.

  • Share relevant materials and information that can support participants in their discussions or decisions

  • Assist in translating guidelines and recommendations into actionable steps for participants.

  • Help track the implementation of interventions, ensuring they align with project goals and objectives.

  • Raise awareness about the importance of healthy diets, physical activity, and clean environments among health care providers and pregnant women.

Job Requirements

  • At least BSc degree holder in midwives.

  • At least ten years working experience clinically in midwifery.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A passion for evidence-based practice and healthcare improvement.

  • Experience or interest in facilitation, coaching, or mentorship.
