Job Description
Buusaa Gonofaa Micro finance (BG MFI) is a non-bank profit making financial institution licensed under Proclamation No 40/1996 and is supervised by the National Bank of Ethiopia. Currently BG want to fill the Branch Accountant vacant position with a suitable candidate.
The Branch Accountant is responsible to input data to computer, classifies, and records numerical data to keep financial records complete. He/she performs any combination of routine data entry, calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. He/she should also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other employees.
Reads source documents such as canceled checks, sales reports, or bills, and enters data in specific data fields or onto computers, using keyboards or scanners;
Compiles, sorts and verifies the accuracy of data before it is entered;
Compares data with source documents, or re-enters data in verification format to detect errors;
Checks figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
Classifies, records, and summarizes numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
Debits, credits, and totals accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software.
Operates calculators and copy machines to perform calculations and produce documents.
Receives, records, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers.
Ensures the protection of information against unauthorized access;
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Branch Manager
Educational Qualification and Experience:
Level of education: BA Degree in Accounting or related field.
Experience: 3 years of relevant experience.
VI. Skill and Competence required:
Well organized and ability to act in a professional and ethical manner.
Good skills in the use of computers.
Communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of arithmetic, analytical and logical reasoning.
Willing to work, even under stress and out of usual work timings.
