General Position Summary
In order to have a smooth implementation of the program operational plan, the Sr logistics Officer plays a key role in the Area Team in ensuring compliance towards Procurement, Logistics, HR and Administration Area.
Working in the Operations Function, under the direction of the field office Program Coordinator, the Logistics Officer is responsible on the day-to-day routine tasks of the operations department as well as monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. She/he is expected to produce reliable, accurate and timely Operations report for all stakeholders involved in. The post holder should be forward looking, self-driven, operating under minimum supervision, and critical thinker in Area Office management role. Furthermore, considering the various expected systemic changes in future, the post holder should be forward-looking, change oriented and able to develop/train the team in the changing environment.
This job requires travel to the project sites directly managed by Mercy Corps as well as by sub grantees. The main objectives of the travel are compliance and monitoring (internal audit nature) of donor rules as well as MC’s internal policies and procedures. Where necessary the objective of the visit could also be capacity assessment or capacity building.

Operate MC vehicles as assigned by supervisor.
Maintain vehicle log-sheets in accordance with MC policies/regulations.
Check the vehicle conditions after each trip/routinely – report needs and problems to transport.
Adhere to all safety and communication protocols as advised by Mercy Corps and supervisor.
Responsible for the safekeeping of all vehicle equipment, tools, first aid kits, spares etc.
Keep the vehicle ready, clean and on standby – ready for use always.
Assist, as required, with logistics in the office and guesthouse daily workloads.
Cooperate and be of assistance to staff and visitors – assist in troubleshooting potential
problems during daily business.
Report all maintenance needs of the vehicle to transport management on a regular basis.
Undertake field assignments as assigned.
Adherence to all MC policies and procedures as outlined in MC policies and procedure manuals.
Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit
to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission in country of operation.
Other duties as assigned.

3rd Grade or above, a valid Driving license
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Driver preferably in an international NGO
Excellent oral and written Amharic & Afar languag
