Job Title: Community Development Facilitator (CDF) - for Sustainable Food Security Project
Reports to: Project coordinator
Required Number: 01/One/
Duty Station: Based in Ejersa & Dugeda-gerye kebelesin Sodo woreda, of Eastern Gurage Zone, Central Ethiopia Region.
Employment Type: Full time
Term of employment: Contract, and renewed annually based on performance
The “Sustainable Food Security Project” is under implementation process as per the proposed project life time since October 1, 2023 to September30, 2028 with the grant funding agencies-BMZ, ChildFund Deutschland, and ChildFund Ethiopia.
The purpose of the CDF position is to ensure that CCFE’s “Sustainable Food Security project” grassroots activities are run smoothly. She/he supports people’s empowerment, collective action and solidarity, social cohesion and inclusion as well as gender equity. Facilitates and encourages active participation of and networking between individuals and communities in recognizing problems, identifying solutions, and implementing project activities related to the identified solutions.
Planning, Implementation, Assessment and Monitoring
On the basis of the plan and programme of the organization, plans and organizes the grassroots work of the organization at his/her level of assignment;
Facilitates community meetings and community action plan preparation and ensure that the participation of each community groups in problem identification, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
Mobilizes communities for development actions and local available resources.
Participates in the collection and assessments of required data related to the project.
Facilitates community food security and livelihoods analysis, wealth ranking and targeting along with partners and responsible body from the target woreda and kebeles.
Participates and facilitate project activity trainings to target participants in the communities;
Plan, implement, monitor and follow up the on-farm and off-farm activities in the project operational area.
Organizes and builds skill and knowledge of VSLAs and Asset creation groups;
Enhance the project endeavors on entrepreneurship activities in the project area;
Facilitates and supports the VSLA group members on their business ideas and business plans;
Participates in and facilitates the value chain processes in his/her respective intervention kebeles;
Ensures that the resources provided by the organization are efficiently used at the community level;
Ensures that activity implementation is informed by ChildFund’s core programming approaches and principles, gender equity, child safeguarding/child protection and community level advocacy in particular;
Supports and engage in regular capacity assessment activities conducted at kebele level;
Arranges/facilitates cross-visits and conduct capacity building on-site trainings for community leaders, committees, elders, youth groups, saving group members and representatives and other members;
Ensure proper handling and use of the organization’s resources and of the community’s as well.
Networking, Learning and Reporting
Liaises with community organizations and promotes their participation in project activities;
Undertakes participatory monitoring of the implementation of the project works and record lessons and report to her/his direct supervisor.
Prepares action plan, periodic reports(weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) submit it to her/his direct supervisor;
Supports and facilitates community involvement in annual innovation and knowledge fairs;
Collects and compiles data relevant to his/her field of assignment, success story, best practices, case studies and lessons and report to her/his direct supervisor;
Performs other duties as assigned by the organization.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
BA/BSc /in Rural Development, Community Development, General Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Plant Sciences, and other closely related fields.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years of work experiences in similar position for BA/BSc degree and 5 years Diploma in similar position of rural community settings;
Experiences in interventions of VSLA groups methodology, households livelihood and/or food security improvement, Economic strengthening interventions integrating with environment/climate change protection, climate smart agriculture in poor rural community settings is required;
TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS
Very good Communication and report writing skills in English and Amharic languages(both Oral and written) and knowledge/skills oflocal language of Kistanigna, which is commonly spoken at Ejersa & Dugeda Gereye kebeles of Sodo woreda mandatory;
Previous practical knowledge and skill as well prior clear information on project kebele is mandatory
Communication and interpersonal communication skill, good human relations, willingness to reside in rural areas;
Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, and sensitivity, inclusiveness, child safeguarding,conceptual understanding of participatory approach and sustainable development.
Motor bike driving skill and license is required for applicants.
