Job Description
Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER) is seeking a qualified and committed Community Worker for an integrated emergency response project serving conflict-affected communities in Amuru Woreda (Horro Guduru Wollega Zone) in the Oromia region.
Location: Amuru Woreda (Horro Guduru Wollega Zone) in the Oromia region
Duration: 6 months fixed-term contract
Duty Station: Amuru Woreda

Duration of Employment: Fixed Term for 6 months
Salary: As per the scale of the organization and benefit package
Carry out and facilitate the day-to-day planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities at woreda and kebele level.
Work with the customary institutions, project team and government counterparts to achieve the project outputs/outcomes.
Ensure adequate consultation and participation of district and kebele level stakeholders throughout the project cycles such as in project planning, implementation, and monitoring of the activities.
Facilitate various kebele level community meetings, monthly meetings both at woreda and community levels.
Support and engage community in various kebele based natural resource rehabilitation activities, WASH activities, emergency food security and livelihoods initiatives as per the project plans and schedules.
Take part in the assessments and surveys of natural resources, alternative livelihood options, conflict sensitivity within the project operational area for project planning and management, apply DO NO HARM approaches and maximize benefits of the project for the intended beneficiaries.
Ensure transparent and legitimate beneficiaries’ selection is conducted at community level with utmost participation of stakeholders in the woreda.
Acquire accurate information about selected beneficiaries’ families, their problems, needs and capabilities.
Act as facilitator to promote self-help and other social groups in the community.
Prepare and develop periodic reports and weekly progress updates in standard and quality manner.
Ensure proper recording and documentation of best practices, lessons, and success stories.
Ensure that the project activities are implemented according to project work-plan.
Respecting code of conduct, organizational policies and guidelines.
Conduct other duties as may be assigned by the Field Office Coordinator.
Represent HEKS/EPER at woreda level at various forums, including providing updates project reports, information, plans and other relevant topics.
Education, Qualifications & Qualifications & another knowledge
BSc or Diploma in Natural Resources Management, Food Security and Livelihoods, Dry land agriculture, Rural Development, Sociology, and other related social sciences.
3 years of work experience for diploma holders and 2 years of work experience for degree holders in integrated emergency food security and livelihoods, WASH, Peace building, and NRM projects in lowland areas.
Experience of working with local community and customary institutions at grassroots level.
Having a motor bike driving license is advantageous.
Willingness to reside in rural/marginal areas, ability to work with minimum supervision.
Very good English and Afan Oromo language skills (written and spoken).
Computer literacy, excellent record keeping and report writing.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Good community level facilitation and coordination skills.
Strong sense of integrity and personal commitment to the goals and values of Swiss Church Aid/HEKS.
