We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing general ledger activities, performing reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the integrity of our financial data and supporting timely, accurate financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. General Ledger & Month-End Close

• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

• Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger accounts.

• Review the work of junior accountants and ensure compliance with internal accounting policies.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting

• Support the team in preparing budgets, reforecasts, and financial models.

• Track actual performance vs. budget and provide explanations for variances.

3. Audit & Compliance

• Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies.

• Support internal control reviews and recommend improvements.

4. Tax & Regulatory Filings

• Assist in the preparation and review of tax filings (VAT, WHT tax, income tax, pension, profit tax) in coordination with external tax regulations and directives.

• Stay updated with changes in tax laws and their implications for the company.

5. Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).

• Analyze financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and areas of improvement.

• Assist in preparing management reports and dashboards for executive leadership.

6. Systems & Process Improvement

• Help implement and optimize ERP/accounting systems (ERP Next, Peachtree, etc.).

• Maintain proper documentation of accounting policies and procedures.

7. Cost Allocation and Analysis

• Allocate all components of import costs (e.g., shipping, customs duties, insurance, freight, demurrage) and determine the landing cost.

Job Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting & Finance or related fields.

Experience:

• At least 5 years of demonstrated work experience in an accounting role.

Skills and Attributes

• IFRS & Peachtree training, Comprehensive knowledge of Cost & Budget

• Strong experience with accounting software systems (Peachtree and ERP preferred).

• Solid understanding of GAAP/IFRS and accounting principles.

• Proven ability to manage reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. And Strong communication skills.

• Capable in Microsoft Excel and other data validation tools.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

• High level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive information.

• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
