Job Description for Import Documentation Officer
An Import Documentation Officer ensures all import activities comply with regulations and procedures. This involves preparing, verifying, and managing import documentation, coordinating with various stakeholders, and facilitating smooth customs clearance. They also monitor shipments and address any issues that arise during the import process.
Documentation:
Preparing, reviewing, and managing all necessary import documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and customs declarations.
Compliance:
Ensuring all import activities adhere to international trade regulations, import laws, and company policies.
Customs Clearance:
Coordinating with customs brokers and authorities to facilitate the smooth and timely clearance of imported goods.
Shipping Coordination:
Liaising with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and other relevant parties to track shipments and ensure timely delivery.
Communication:
Maintaining effective communication with suppliers, customs officials, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders involved in the import process.
Record Keeping:
Maintaining accurate records of all import transactions and documentation.
Problem Solving:
Identifying and resolving any issues or delays that may occur during the import process.
Cost Management:
Monitoring import costs and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
Staying Updated:
Keeping abreast of changes in import regulations and procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Accounting Logistics, or a related field.
At least 01 year relevant work experience in import documentation and procedures, preferably within an import/export company.
Strong understanding of international trade regulations and customs procedures.
Proficiency in relevant software and systems, including MS Office Suite.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Knowledge of Ethiopian Customs Single Window (ESW) is an advantage.
Language Profficiency:- Amharic ,Afaan Oromo and English
