Reach The Needy – Ethiopia (RTN-Ethiopia)  is a child focused community based, not for profit, non-religious and discrimination free indigenous humanitarian national organization that exists to help the Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable children become productive, confident and responsible citizens, parents and leaders of tomorrow that directly involve and contribute for the development of the country. RTN has been working different development & humanitarian programs in partnership with ChildFund, CARE Ethiopia, PLAN Ethiopia and UNICEF. 

RTN-Ethiopia made a partnership agreement with PLAN Ethiopia to implement Sponsorship project intervention in Sidama Region (Dara Woreda Kebeles) & South Ethiopia Region (Wolaita Zone, Boloso Sore Woreda).

Therefore, we would like to invite interested and qualified applicants for the following post. 

Position:   Finance Coordinator 

Number Required: 1 (One)

The finance coordinator is responsible with Plan, Coordinate and guide the overall financial coordination/management of the organization. The FC plays a critical role in formulating financial strategy, maintaining compliances of the donors. Ensuring that all financial decisions align with RTN policy and procedures. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the overall financial activities of the organization are according to organization’s policy, donor regulation and law of the country.

  • Responsible for development of financial reports and analyses, including cost analyses, expense to budget comparisons for management and donor reports.

  • Responsible for compilation of monthly, quarterly and annual report development and submission.

  • Ensure disbursement of staff salaries, allowances and regulatory requirements (e.g. taxes, pensions); also ensures all operations are in compliance with local tax regulations.

  • Ensures that all financial transactions and operations comply with organization policies, systems and procedures and donor requirements; Monitors Program/ project fund utilization compliance.

  • Responsible for coordination of annual external audit; preparation of required documentation and support implementation of the resulting plan of action and audit corrective measures

  • Build capacity of CBOs, Cooperatives formed by parents, children and youth and other partners to properly manage financial resources for efficient implementation of community managed projects.

  • Responsible for preparation and submission of quarterly cash forecast; ensures optimal operational and capital cash management for assigned program/project.

  • Participate in the development of operational budgets; responsible for monitoring compliance to guidelines and procedures; reviews the organization budgets for submission to the donor and other concerned bodies.

  • Ensure that procurement of goods and services for the organization is done effectively and efficiently and in timely manner.

  • Establish records and archives according to the organization, donor and country policies.

  • Produce special financial analysis in a timely and accurate manner as requested by the ED, donor etc.

Skills and personal attributes: 

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, IPSAS, International Accounting Standards, internal controls, and segregation of duties

  • Good understanding of administrative, financial and general management principles and skilled in financial reporting, budgeting and taxes 

  • Experience and proficiency on financial software and reporting systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs including Excel, Word and Outlook 

  • Self-guided, strong organizational and planning skills; Ability to work independently and under pressure 

  • Proven decision-making skills Strong interpersonal communicative skills; experience in team leadership and participatory management Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English;

Terms of employment: One year Contract with the possibility of extension based on availability of fund and work performance.

Language ability: Good communication skill in Amharic & English. Knowledge of the local language of the working area is advantageous

Salary: As per the organization scale.

Place of work: RTN Coordination office in Dilla town, Gedeo Zone, SNNPR 

Job Requirements

Education Qualification: 

  • BA in Accounting or Finance from recognized College or University\

  • + 8 years’ work experience and 

  • MSc in Finance or related fields and 

  • 6 years of experience. NGO experience is preferable
