Position:

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) –

Location:

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (with regional and international travel as required)

Africa Specialized Engineering (ASE), the technical holding entity of EASE Engineering, is positioned to become a regional leader in engineering innovation, EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) solutions, and infrastructure development. With a legacy rooted in Pan Africa Construction Engineers (PACE), ASE builds on 40 years of expertise in bridges, post-tensioning, structural repair, and advanced engineering solutions, now expanding into high-value infrastructure and prefabrication markets.

The company is preparing for a significant strategic expansion to diversify revenue streams and achieve long-term growth targets, including a shift toward a 50:50 EPC split between buildings and infrastructure projects, growth in bridge and dam projects, and entry into new technology-driven engineering services.

The CEO will drive ASE’s strategic expansion, working closely with the President to define and execute a roadmap that positions ASE as a $100M+ revenue company with a $500M valuation over the next 5 years. This role is focused on top-down leadership—building a high-performing executive team, refining the business model, and driving ASE’s market positioning as an EPC and engineering innovator.

The Deputy CEO (Biruk Giossaye) will continue to focus on operational excellence, ensuring seamless execution of ongoing projects. The CEO will provide the strategic vision, growth leadership, and institutional framework required to scale ASE to its next phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership – Develop and implement ASE’s 5-year strategic expansion plan in alignment with the President’s vision. Diversify revenue streams beyond post-tensioning (PT) into infrastructure, prefabrication (e.g., hollow-core slabs), BIM/software solutions, and selective high-value services like VSL. Identify and evaluate strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and technology collaborations.

  • Business Development & Market Expansion – Position ASE as a premier engineering solutions provider across East Africa and beyond. Drive entry into new sectors such as bridges, dams, and renewable energy (e.g., wind turbine foundations). Oversee large-scale EPC project acquisition and client relationship development.

  • • Organizational Development – Build a robust leadership team and institutional structure, working closely with the Deputy CEO and department heads. Establish corporate governance, SOPs, and KPI-driven performance systems. Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and accountability.

  • Financial Growth & Sustainability – Drive profitability and optimize project margins. Oversee capital planning, investments, and strategic financing to support expansion. Work with Solstice Ventures Holding (SVH) for fundraising and strategic investor relations.

  • Stakeholder Management – Collaborate closely with the President (Mekdem Aberra) for strategic direction and oversight. Maintain strong industry relationships with clients, regulators, and technical partners. Serve as the public face of ASE, representing the company in high-level negotiations and industry forums.

Job Requirements

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven track record as a CEO, Managing Director, or senior executive in EPC, infrastructure, or engineering sectors (10+ years leadership experience).

  • Deep understanding of construction and infrastructure markets in East Africa, with exposure to international standards and technologies.

  • Strong commercial and business development acumen, including JV formation and large-scale project acquisition.

  • Experience with organizational scaling—building high-performing teams and instituting governance frameworks.

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business (MBA preferred).

  • International exposure or partnerships with global engineering firms is an advantage.

Key Competencies

  • Strategic thinker with strong execution ability.

  • Inspirational leader with the ability to align diverse teams.

  • Financially savvy with proven P&L responsibility.

  • Strong negotiation and partnership-building skills.

  • Results-driven and resilient in complex market conditions.
