Regional Project Officers (2) (Somali and Amhara Region) 

Job Description

Position Title= Regional Project Officers 

Reports to= SRHR Program Manager 

Number of positions available : 2

Location= Somali Region (Fafen, Jarar, Shebele and korahay zones), Amhara Region ( S/Wello, N/Wello and Oromia Special Zone)

The Regional Project Officer (RPO) will be responsible for leading the implementation of the “Enhancing Reproductive Health Entitlement and Responding to GBV in Ethiopia: Phase II” project in their respective region. The RPO will coordinate and oversee day-to-day project activities, ensure alignment with project goals, engage with local stakeholders, and contribute to the effective delivery of results related to reproductive health (RH), youth engagement, and GBV response.

The officer in Somali Region is expected to be fluent in Somali and demonstrate deep understanding of the regional context, particularly youth-related challenges and opportunities.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of project activities in the assigned region.

  • Ensure timely and quality delivery of project outputs related to SRH, GBV prevention and response, and youth empowerment.

  • Facilitate community mobilization and engagement with local government structures, youth groups, health providers, and CSOs.

  • Oversee the delivery of capacity-building training, awareness-raising campaigns, and service linkages.

  • Monitor progress against project work plans, targets, and indicators, and prepare regular reports.

  • Ensure proper documentation and learning across implementation sites.

  • Support the identification and referral of GBV survivors to appropriate services, in coordination with relevant actors.

  • Represent the project and organization in relevant regional forums and stakeholder meetings.

  • Collaborate closely with the M&E team to track and report data accurately.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in line with project objectives.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Public Health, Nursing, project management or related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in SRH and/or GBV program implementation.

  • Strong knowledge of community-based health programming and youth issues in the Ethiopian context.

  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and multi-sectoral coordination.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

  • Proficiency in English and Amharic is required.

For the Somali Region post: 

  • Fluency in Somali (spoken and written) is mandatory; deep understanding of local context and youth-related dynamics is essential.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Willingness to travel frequently to field sites within the region
