Reach The Needy – Ethiopia (RTN-Ethiopia)  is a child focused community based, not for profit, non-religious and discrimination free indigenous humanitarian national organization that exists to help the Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable children  become productive, confident and responsible citizens, parents and leaders of tomorrow that directly involve and contribute for the development of the country. RTN has been working Child Sponsorship, development & humanitarian programs in partnership with ChildFund, CARE Ethiopia, PLAN Ethiopia and UNICEF. 

Therefore, we would like to invite interested and qualified applicants for the following post. 

Position:   Driver, Messenger 

Number of Position:     2 (Two)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure that all vehicle’s and driver’s documents are in vehicle, i.e. driving license, registration papers, insurance, etc

• Ensure that everyone in the vehicle is wearing a seat belt

• Ensure that no material is taken out of vehicle without prior authorization.

• Use vehicle Logbook in order to monitor movements, services, accidents, refueling, mileage, etc 

• Keep the vehicle clean and tidy at all times

• The driver is obliged to act in compliance with traffic laws and regulations

• The driver must serve in normal mood and mind, not under the influence of any type of drug or liquor

• Check the fuel, water, oil, and tires of the vehicle on daily bases.

• Ensure seat belts and other safety equipment is in good working order.

• Carry out minor repairs directly, and promptly report the need for garage repair.

• Prepare spare part required for vehicles maintenance & confirm that all purchased spare parts are used for the intended vehicle.

• When garage repair or service is authorized, arrange the vehicle to be taken to the garage for repair of service.

• Closely follow up and support the repair and maintenance activities. Ensure the garage made the maintenance properly.

• Confirm that maintained vehicles are functioning properly.

• The position holder should Make timely request for 5000Kms, and 10,000kms service

• Makes timely request for minor maintenances as vital

• Makes follow up on maintenances at the garages

• Returns all old parts that are replaced during maintenances

• The driver is responsible to accurately complete log sheets.

• The driver is encouraged to immediately complete and submit an incident report and police report in case of an accident

Terms of employment: One year Contract with the possibility of extension based on availability of fund and work performance.

Language ability: Good communication skill in Amharic & English. Knowledge of the local language of the working area is advantageous

Salary: As per the organization scale.

Place of work: RTN Coordination office in Dilla town, Gedeo Zone, SNNPR 

Job Requirements

• Four years of relevant work experience for High school Graduates.

• Proven ability for TVET graduated.

• 3rd-grade valid license and other mechanical training are considered as an asset.

• Must have good knowledge of both spoken and written English, and safe driving ability, and closely adhering to RTN’s driving and vehicle management as well as government regulations.

• Good communication and social skills.

• Proven Track Record to work under pressure.

• NGO experience is plus

• Excellent mechanical know-how and skills
