Job Summary
The Head – Procurement is responsible for developing and executing the hospital's procurement and supply chain strategy to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of materials, medical equipment, and services. This role involves optimizing procurement processes, maintaining vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and driving operational efficiencies. Reporting to the CEO, the Head – Procurement collaborates with key stakeholders to align procurement functions with the hospital’s strategic objective
1. Strategic Procurement Leadership
Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the hospital's operational and financial goals.
Collaborate with executive leadership to drive procurement planning and cost optimization initiatives.
Ensure effective demand forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning for critical medical and non-medical supplies.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovations to enhance efficiency and reduce procurement costs.
2. Inventory & Supply Chain Management
Oversee inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimizing stock-outs without disrupting hospital operations.
Implement advanced procurement and inventory management systems (e.g., ERP) for real-time tracking and reporting.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate supply chain performance (e.g., inventory turnover, cost savings).
Ensure regular physical stock verification and reconciliation with book records, reporting discrepancies as required.
3. Vendor & Supplier Management
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to secure the best value, quality, and service delivery.
Lead vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation to ensure reliable and ethical sourcing.
Establish systems for monitoring supplier performance and resolving issues related to material quality or delivery delays.
Ensure compliance with ethical procurement practices and maintain transparency in vendor transactions.
4. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements (e.g., NABH, medical device regulations, tax laws) in procurement operations.
Oversee the preparation and timely response to internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
Implement risk mitigation strategies to manage supply disruptions and critical stock shortages.
Ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability standards in procurement decisions where applicable.
5. Financial Oversight & Cost Optimization
Manage the procurement budget, ensuring alignment with the hospital's financial plans and operational needs.
Drive cost-saving initiatives through effective negotiation, bulk purchasing, and value-based sourcing strategies.
Analyze spending patterns and identify opportunities for financial improvement while maintaining service quality.
Provide financial reports, including expenditure analysis, inventory valuation, and procurement-related forecasts.
6. Technology Integration & Innovation
Oversee the adoption and optimization of procurement technologies, including ERP systems and automated procurement workflows.
Leverage data analytics to drive decision-making, improve procurement processes, and track key metrics.
Implement digital solutions to streamline procurement cycles, enhance visibility, and support accurate reporting.
7. Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
Oversee staff training on procurement best practices, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
Implement a structured performance evaluation system to ensure employee growth and retention.
Foster cross-functional collaboration with finance, clinical, and operational teams to support hospital-wide objectives.
8. Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration
Serve as the primary point of contact for procurement-related matters with internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with finance, operations, and clinical leadership to ensure procurement aligns with patient care priorities.
Provide regular reports and insights to the CEO and executive team on procurement performance and strategic initiatives.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the CEO or Board of Directors.
Qualification : BA/ Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Hospital Administration
Preferred: Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, or equivalent)
Experience :10+ years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management. Minimum 5 years in a senior procurement leadership role, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting
