Light for the World is a global development organization. We empower people with disabilities and enable eye health services in low-income countries. Over the last three decades we improved health systems, enabled education for all, and amplified the voices of people with disabilities. In Ethiopia, our country strategy for the year 2021-2025 focuses on Eye Health, Inclusive Economic Empowerment, Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), Inclusive Education and Humanitarian Action. Advocacy and disability inclusion are cross cutting theme.  Currently, Light for the World Ethiopia is supporting projects in Addis Ababa City Administration, Amhara, Tigray, Oromia, Sidama, and SNNP regions. 
Light for the world therefore seeks the services of an experienced and self-driven person to lead this innovative and ambitious project hence the vacancy below.

Job Title: Filed Survey Coordinator
Contract length: up to 31 Dec 2025 with the possibility of extension on project fund availability
Location: Field office Oromia-Nekemt Gimbi and Assosa, Benishangul Gumuz

Job Purpose
The job holder is responsible to support the national onchocerciasis elimination program, field survey targeting pre-stop Mass Drug Administration (MDA) surveys using entomological and serological sample collection will be carried out in western Oromia zones and Benishangul Gumuz Region. Also, lymphatic filariasis survey will be carried out focusing epidemiological monitoring surveys (EMS) and transmission assessment surveys (TAS) in some districts
Key Roles and responsibilities:
•    Coordinate and facilitate field operations of entomological and serological surveys both for Onchocerciasis volvulus (OV) and Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) and support survey teams.
•    Oversee field teams during village (site) selection and sample collection.
•    Ensure quality data collection through selecting proper data collectors. 
•    Liaise with field teams, local communities and respective regional health bureaus, zonal and district staffs. 
•    Ensures quality sample collection from selected villages related to dried blood spot (DBS) samples, EMS and TAS 1. This includes sample storage and prompt shipment of DBS samples to Onchocerciasis Molecular Laboratory.
•    Carry out river prospection with assigned entomologist and local health workers.
•    Manage and monitor survey logistics including materials and supplies.
•    Regular recording and reporting of survey data. 
•    Support in collecting financial documents (attendance, representation letter and log sheet, and other financial requirements) and assist payment to beneficiaries when required. 
•    Assess and report the security situation of the targeted districts and zones when applicable.
•    Keep and comply with organization data protection and confidentiality.
•    Provide capacity building to district and kebele health workers.
•    Ensure adherence and monitor safe handling and biosafety during sample collection.
•    Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements

Qualification Skills and Experience Requirements
BSC/MSC in Public health, biomedical science or related field of study with minimum 5/3-year experience respectively in field survey on onchocerciasis, lymphatic filariasis and other vector-borne infectious diseases is more desirable
Skills & Abilities required
•    Ability to frequently travel to community and village level (75% of the time).
•    Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel etc.).
•    Ability to multi-tasks.
•    Ability to work well with others.
•    Self‐disciplined and ability to work independently.
•    Attention to details and accuracy.
•    Able to communicate local languages and culture of the targeted project areas.
•    High teamwork abilities and good interpersonal skills. 
•    commitment to ethical standards.

•    Proficiency in computer applications skills.
•    Proficiency in organizational skills.
