Job Description
Under the supervision of protection team leader, the protection assistant-Monitoring, will be responsible for assisting protection monitoring activities at designated sites, including data collection through KIIs, FGDs, and observations. He/she will support in service and resource mapping, identify and refer individuals with specific needs, and strengthen community-based protection structures. The role also involves maintaining referral pathways and assisting in reporting and translation,
Carry out the protection monitoring activities in identified sites according to work plan
Collect protection monitoring data’s using the standardized tools (Key Information Interviews, Focus Group Discussion and observation)
Collaborate with the protection officers and team leader in reviewing protection trends and needs in DRC’s areas of intervention and recommend appropriate activities
Conduct service and resource mapping to determine available services and ensure effective protection services and referrals
Support identification of individuals with specific needs and referral to relevant services including Individual Protection Assistance.
Collaborate with relevant partners to develop and maintain protection referral mechanisms.
Support community-based structures through promoting meaningful group conversation and guiding members to self-identify community protection concerns.
Ensure ethical and statistically-sound data collection, analysis and protection
Support in the development of daily, weekly and monthly reports.
Translate Monitoring and other materials into local languages
Assist protection officers and team leader in facilitating protection activities
Participate in creation and distributing of communication materials needed for Information Communication and Education (IEC)
Properly document activities by ensuring confidentiality
Carry out other tasks directed by the supervisor
Experience and technical competencies:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to conduct interviews, facilitate discussions, and write reports in English.
Knowledge of protection
Proficiency in basic computer skills and data entry
Minimum 1 year Previous experience in protection monitoring or community-based setting is an asset.
EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)
High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certificate in law, social science, protection or related field is preferred.
Languages: (indicate fluency level)
Proficient of Somali and English language
