 Anesthesiologist

Designation: Anesthesiologist

Reports to: Medical Director

The Anesthesiologist will be responsible for administering anesthesia for surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort. This includes pre-anesthetic evaluation, intra-operative management, and post-anesthetic care, in accordance with Ethiopian healthcare standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Clinical Duties:

  • Conduct thorough pre-anesthetic evaluations, including medical history review, physical examination, and assessment of patient fitness for anesthesia.

  • Develop and implement individualized anesthesia plans based on patient needs and surgical requirements.

  • Administer various types of anesthesia (general, regional, local) safely and effectively, monitoring vital signs and patient responses continuously.

  • Manage potential complications during and after anesthesia, providing immediate and appropriate interventions.

  • Oversee post-anesthetic recovery and pain management in the recovery room.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed anesthesia records.

• Administrative Duties:

  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure coordinated patient care.

  • Ensure proper functionality and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement projects, and safety initiatives.

• Educational Duties:

  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior medical staff, interns, and nurses regarding anesthesia practices.

  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements and best practices in anesthesiology through continuous professional development.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.

• Specialization in Anesthesiology.

• Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia.

• Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable post-specialization experience as an Anesthesiologist.

• Strong knowledge of patient safety protocols and emergency response.

• Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
