ABOUT KURMUK GOLD MINE PLC (KGM)

Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC (KGM) is a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp, a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, with mining operations in multiple countries including Ethiopia, Mali, and Côte d'Ivoire. KGM holds a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and three Exploration Licenses for its Ethiopian project. These licenses are located in western Ethiopia, approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa and about 90 km northwest of Assosa, in the Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State. KGM is currently engaged in both mine development and exploration activities at the site. 

KGM is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner – Level 2 (HR Superintendent) to join our team. This role will provide key HR leadership and operational support to our site-based workforce. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mining, construction, or heavy industry HR operations, and be comfortable working in a dynamic, remote site environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Workforce Planning & Deployment: Assist in workforce planning, talent acquisition, and succession strategies aligned with operational goals.

  • Recruitment & Mobilisation: Manage end-to-end recruitment and mobilisation of site-based personnel, ensuring timely onboarding and compliance.

  • Employee Relations: Provide HR support to line managers, oversee conflict resolution, manage union engagement and collective bargaining processes.

  • Performance & Conduct Management: Support performance review processes and provide guidance to supervisors on managing conduct and attendance.

  • Compliance & HR Administration: Ensure full compliance with labour laws, site policies, and internal HR systems; oversee record-keeping and audits.

  • Roster & Leave Management: Monitor site rosters and leave schedules to ensure operational continuity.

  • Employee Engagement: Facilitate communication and implement site-wide employee wellbeing and retention initiatives.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise site HR personnel and ensure consistent HR coverage across shifts.

  • Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI): Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in HR within mining, construction, or heavy industry.

  • At least 2–3 years in a site-based or superintendent-level HR role.

  • Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and workforce compliance.

  • Familiarity with site rotations, logistics, and contractor management.

Technical Skills:

  • Operationally hands-on with strong problem-solving capability.

  • Sound understanding of Ethiopian labor laws and mining compliance requirements.

  • Experience with performance management systems and workforce planning.

  • High-level communication, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP platforms.

  • English language proficiency is an advantage.

  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, remote site environment.

  • High resilience and adaptability in fast-paced and physically demanding environments.

  • Strong team collaboration, decision-making, and leadership ability.
