Dental Specialist/Surgeon

Designation: Dental Specialist/Surgeon

Reports to: Medical Director

Salary & Benefits: Negotiable and Attractive

The Dental Specialist/Surgeon will provide advanced dental care, specializing in specific areas such as oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, periodontics, or endodontics. This role involves diagnosing complex oral conditions, performing specialized dental procedures, and collaborating with general dentists to ensure comprehensive oral health.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Clinical Duties:

    • Conduct comprehensive oral examinations and diagnose complex dental and oral conditions within their specialty.

    • Perform specialized dental procedures (e.g., complex extractions, dental implants, orthodontic treatments, root canal treatments, gum surgeries, jaw surgeries) as per their qualification.

    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients requiring specialized dental interventions.

    • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including patient education on oral hygiene and recovery.

    • Manage dental emergencies relevant to their specialty.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient dental records, including treatment plans and progress notes.

    • Collaborate with general dentists, dental hygienists, and other healthcare professionals for integrated patient care.

    • Ensure proper sterilization of dental instruments and adherence to infection control protocols.

  • Educational Duties:

    • Educate patients on specialized oral health procedures, preventative care, and post-treatment maintenance.

    • Stay updated with advancements in their dental specialty through continuous professional development.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from a recognized institution.

  • Specialization/Residency completion in a recognized dental specialty (e.g., Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics).

  • Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia.

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable post-specialization experience as a Dental Specialist/Surgeon.

  • Proficiency in advanced dental procedures relevant to their specialty.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
