The Resonance Lab Web/Graphics Designer will be the creative force behind the lab’s visual identity and digital presence, translating complex AI research and development efforts into compelling and accessible visual narratives. This role is crucial for engaging diverse audiences and ensuring the lab’s innovations are widely understood and utilized.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain the Resonance Lab’s official website, ensuring it is user-friendly, accessible, mobile-responsive, and regularly updated with news, publications, events, and project developments.

• Create high-quality, impactful visual content including info graphics, data visualizations, research posters, reports, presentations, and social media graphics.

• Work closely with the Communications Officer to develop and maintain consistent branding materials and visual guidelines for all lab communications.

• Design promotional content for various outreach activities, workshops, conferences, and partnerships.

• Support researchers by designing intuitive and aesthetically appealing user interfaces (UI) and user experiences (UX) for AI tools, dashboards, and applications developed by the lab, ensuring they are user-friendly and effective.

• Potentially assist in basic video editing or animation for educational and promotional content.

• Organize and manage the lab’s digital asset library (photos, videos, graphics).

Job Requirement

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Graphic Design, Multimedia Arts, Visual Communication, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in web design and graphic design.

• Skilled in designing websites, graphics, and technical visualizations.

• Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, XD).

• Strong understanding of web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and content management systems (e.g., Word Press).

• Excellent portfolio showcasing strong design principles, creativity, and attention to detail.

• Ability to translate complex scientific and technical information into clear, engaging visual formats.

• Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with researchers and the Communications team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with UI/UX design principles specifically for data-driven applications or software.

• Experience with animation or video editing software.

• Familiarity with data visualization libraries or tools.

• Understanding of accessibility standards for web content

Position Type: Fixed-Term Contract (for 20 months, with possibility of extension)

Reports To: Communications Officer Horizontally / Lab Director Vertically

Location:  Addis Ababa University, College of Technology and Built Environment

Salaries:     Negotiable
