Job Title: Production Supervisor (Electrical & Electromechanical Assembly)

Duty Station:  Assembly Facility, Kotebe 02, Addis Ababa

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Supervisor to oversee the daily assembly operations of CKD electrical and electromechanical appliances, including induction stoves, solar products, water pumps, and controllers. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient production workflows, high-quality output, and optimal team performance. This position serves as a vital link between the assembly team and senior management, with responsibilities spanning production scheduling, safety compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. A strong background in manufacturing processes, team leadership, and quality control is essential for success in this role.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership & Workflow Management

      •   Supervise and mentor assembly technicians, assigning tasks based on skills and priorities.

      •   Monitor attendance, productivity, and adherence to SOPs; address performance gaps.

      •   Foster a collaborative and safety-conscious work environment.

  2. Production Planning & Execution

      •   Develop and maintain daily/weekly production schedules to meet targets.

      •   Track output, downtime, and material usage; report variances to management.

      •   Optimize workflows to reduce bottlenecks (e.g., reassigning tasks, improving layouts).

      •   Coordinate with the warehouse/logistics team to ensure the timely availability of parts/tools.

3. Quality Control & Compliance

      •   Enforce quality standards for assembled products (e.g., electrical safety tests, functional checks).

      •   Conduct random inspections and collaborate with QC teams to resolve defects.

      •   Ensure 5S (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) and lean manufacturing principles are followed.

4. Safety & Training

      •   Implement and monitor safety protocols (PPE, equipment handling, hazard reporting).

      •   Organize safety drills and corrective actions post-incidents.

      •   Train technicians on new assembly processes, tools, or products.

5. Reporting & Cross-Functional Coordination

      •   Prepare daily production reports (output, delays, resource utilization).

      •   Liaise with the Engineering Manager on team performance, skill gaps, and equipment needs.

      •   Support new hire onboarding and skill development programs.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

      •   BSc/Diploma in Industrial//Electrical/ Electromechanical/ Mechanical Engineering or related field.

      •   5 years of experience in manufacturing/assembly supervision, preferably in electromechanical products.

      •   Proven track record of meeting production targets and improving processes.

Technical Competencies

      •   Strong knowledge of assembly line operations, CKD processes, and quality control.

      •   Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, and safety standards. 

      •   Basic proficiency in basic computer and Microsoft soft wares.

Leadership & Soft Skills

      •   Decisive leadership with the ability to motivate teams under pressure.

      •   Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot workflow or technical issues.

      •   Excellent communication (Amharic/English) for cross-department coordination.
