The Midwife will provide comprehensive care to women throughout pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and the postpartum period, including care for the newborn. This role focuses on promoting normal physiological processes, offering health education, and recognizing/referring complications when necessary, aligning with national maternal health guidelines.
Clinical Duties:
Provide antenatal care, including physical examinations, health assessments, and monitoring maternal and fetal well-being.
Educate expectant mothers on pregnancy health, nutrition, childbirth preparation, and breastfeeding.
Manage labor and childbirth, providing continuous support, monitoring progress, and conducting safe deliveries.
Provide immediate postnatal care to mothers and newborns, including newborn assessments and essential care.
Identify and manage common complications during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, referring to obstetricians when necessary.
Provide family planning counseling and services.
Maintain accurate and complete maternity records.
Administrative Duties:
Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated maternal and child health services.
Participate in maternal and child health programs and quality improvement initiatives.
Adhere to national guidelines for safe motherhood and newborn care.
Educational Duties:
Empower women with knowledge and confidence regarding their reproductive health, pregnancy, and childbirth.
Conduct community health education sessions on maternal and child health topics.
Continuously update knowledge on midwifery best practices and global health recommendations.
Diploma or Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Midwifery.
Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia.
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience as a practicing Midwife in a hospital or clinic setting.
Strong clinical skills in labor and delivery management.
Excellent communication, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
Commitment to safe motherhood and respectful maternity care.
