Nurse, Pediatric

Designation: Pediatric Nurse

Reports to: Head Nursing Services / Head of Pediatric Department

Salary & Benefits: Negotiable and Attractive

The Pediatric Nurse will specialize in providing compassionate and age-appropriate nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents. This role involves managing childhood illnesses, administering medications, supporting families, and promoting child health and development within a pediatric ward or clinic.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Clinical Duties:

    • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients, adapting care to the specific developmental stage and needs of each child.

    • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, understanding pediatric dosages and routes.

    • Monitor vital signs, recognize changes in condition, and report appropriately.

    • Perform pediatric assessments, including growth monitoring and developmental screening.

    • Support and educate parents/guardians on their child's condition, treatment, and home care.

    • Prepare children for medical procedures and provide emotional support during stressful times.

    • Maintain a safe and child-friendly environment.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient charts, including observations, interventions, and outcomes.

    • Collaborate effectively with pediatricians, child life specialists, and other healthcare team members.

    • Adhere to pediatric nursing protocols and infection control measures.

  • Educational Duties:

    • Educate parents/guardians on child health, nutrition, immunization, and disease prevention.

    • Provide age-appropriate health education to children.

    • Continuously update knowledge on pediatric nursing best practices and childhood diseases prevalent in Ethiopia.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Nursing.

  • Valid professional nursing license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia.

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in pediatric nursing.

  • Passion for working with children and their families.

  • Excellent communication skills, patience, and empathy.

  • Knowledge of pediatric growth and development
