Nurse, Dental (BSc)
Designation: Dental Nurse (BSc)
Reports to: Head of Dental Services / Senior Dental Specialist

The Dental Nurse with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree will provide skilled nursing support in the dental department, assisting dental specialists and surgeons with patient care, preparing dental procedures, and ensuring a sterile and efficient clinical environment. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures and patient care principles.
Clinical Duties:
Assist dental specialists/surgeons during various dental procedures (e.g., extractions, fillings, root canals, oral surgeries, orthodontic treatments).
Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to strict infection control protocols.
Prepare patients for dental examinations and procedures, providing comfort and reassurance.
Take and process dental X-rays as required.
Provide post-procedure instructions and oral hygiene education to patients.
Maintain patient dental records accurately.
Assist with dental emergencies as needed.
Administrative Duties:
Manage dental supplies inventory and ensure proper stock levels.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dental operatory.
Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow in the dental clinic.
Adhere to hospital policies and dental practice guidelines.
Educational Duties:
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventative care, and post-treatment instructions.
Stay updated with best practices in dental nursing and new dental technologies.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Nursing with relevant training or experience in dental nursing.
Valid professional nursing license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Dental Nurse or general nursing experience with significant exposure to a dental clinic setting.
Strong understanding of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
