The Neurologist will specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. This role involves evaluating complex neurological symptoms, interpreting diagnostic tests, and providing comprehensive care for various neurological conditions.
Clinical Duties:
Conduct comprehensive neurological examinations to assess sensory, motor, cognitive, and reflex functions.
Diagnose and manage a wide range of neurological conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, headaches, neuropathies, and dementia.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as MRI/CT scans of the brain/spine, EEG, EMG, and nerve conduction studies.
Develop individualized treatment plans, including medication management, lifestyle adjustments, and referrals for rehabilitation.
Manage acute neurological emergencies.
Provide ongoing care for chronic neurological conditions.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient neurological records.
Collaborate with neurosurgeons, physiotherapists, and other specialists for multidisciplinary patient care.
Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives related to neurological services.
Educational Duties:
Educate patients and their families on neurological conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
Mentor junior medical staff and students in neurology principles.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in neuroscience, diagnostic techniques, and neurological treatments.
Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.
Specialization in Neurology.
Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia.
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable post-specialization experience as a Neurologist.
Strong diagnostic acumen and ability to manage complex neurological cases.
Excellent communication and empathy
