Accounts Receivable Officer

Designation: Accounts Receivable Officer

Reports to: Finance Manager / Head of Accounts

Salary & Benefits: Negotiable and Attractive

The Accounts Receivable Officer will be responsible for managing all aspects of the hospital's accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection of payments from patients, insurance companies, and other debtors. This role is critical for maintaining healthy cash flow and accurate financial records.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Financial Duties:

    • Prepare, verify, and issue invoices to patients and third-party payers (e.g., insurance companies, government programs) for medical services rendered.

    • Monitor accounts to identify overdue payments and initiate collection efforts through phone calls, emails, and letters.

    • Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are accurately posted.

    • Process patient payments, credit card transactions, and direct deposits.

    • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, patient queries, and insurance claim rejections.

    • Prepare accounts receivable aging reports for management review.

    • Follow up on outstanding claims with insurance companies and facilitate necessary documentation.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain accurate and organized patient billing records.

    • Ensure compliance with hospital billing policies and relevant financial regulations.

    • Collaborate with patient registration, medical records, and clinical departments to ensure accurate billing information.

  • Customer Service:

    • Communicate professionally and empathetically with patients regarding their accounts and payment plans.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 1 years of demonstrable experience in an Accounts Receivable role, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and billing cycles.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical skills.

  • Good communication and negotiation skills
