Line Cook

Designation: Line Cook

Reports to: Senior Chef / Head of Nutrition and Food Services

Salary & Benefits: Negotiable and Attractive

The Line Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to recipes, production schedules, and dietary requirements for patients and staff. This role ensures high-quality, safe, and nutritious meals are consistently provided in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operational Duties:

    • Prepare and cook food items for patients (standard and therapeutic diets), staff, and visitors following standardized recipes and portion controls.

    • Ensure all food is cooked to the correct temperature and meets quality and taste standards.

    • Monitor food production to ensure timely delivery of meals.

    • Maintain a clean and organized work station, including food preparation areas, cooking equipment, and storage areas.

    • Properly store food items and rotate stock to minimize waste.

    • Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations (HACCP principles where applicable).

    • Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Record food temperatures and production logs accurately.

    • Report equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to the Senior Chef.

  • Other Duties as Required:

    • Assist in menu development and recipe testing as directed.

    • Participate in training sessions on new cooking techniques or dietary requirements.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts, Food Preparation, or equivalent professional training.

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience as a Line Cook in a busy institutional kitchen (e.g., hospital, hotel, large restaurant).

  • Proven cooking skills and knowledge of various cooking methods.

  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and as part of a team.

  • Physical stamina required for standing for long periods and lifting
