Job Advert: Quality Assurance Officer

The Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring quality management systems and processes within the hospital to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, compliance with national and international healthcare standards, and continuous improvement across all departments.
Quality System Development & Implementation:
Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the hospital's quality management system (QMS) in alignment with relevant healthcare standards and regulations (e.g., Ethiopian standards, international accreditation guidelines if applicable).
Develop and update quality policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines in collaboration with department heads.
Promote a culture of quality improvement and patient safety throughout the organization.
Monitoring & Evaluation:
Conduct regular quality audits and assessments of clinical and administrative processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with established standards.
Collect, analyze, and interpret quality data, including patient outcomes, incident reports, patient feedback, and process indicators.
Prepare comprehensive quality performance reports for management, highlighting trends, achievements, and areas requiring corrective action.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure the hospital's adherence to all relevant national healthcare regulations, licensing requirements, and patient safety guidelines.
Participate in risk assessment activities to identify potential risks to patient safety and quality of care and develop mitigation strategies.
Support the investigation of adverse events, patient complaints, and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Training & Education:
Assist in developing and delivering quality assurance training programs for hospital staff to enhance their understanding of quality standards and best practices.
Provide guidance and support to departments in implementing quality improvement initiatives.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead or participate in quality improvement projects (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma methodologies if applicable) aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing errors, and improving patient satisfaction.
Benchmark hospital performance against industry best practices and identify opportunities for innovation.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Healthcare Management, Nursing, Medicine, or a related clinical field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in quality assurance, quality improvement, or a related role within a healthcare setting (hospital or clinic).
Strong understanding of healthcare quality standards, patient safety principles, and regulatory requirements (experience with accreditation processes is highly desirable).
Proven ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data, and to generate actionable insights for improvement.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with quality management software or data analysis tools is an advantage.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
