About Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) 

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 as a biomedical research institute through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described theleprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). Later, AHRI is restructured as one of the federal agents under the Ministry of Health and for expanded its research program and conducted numbers of clinical and diagnostic intervention to fight against emerging diseases and halting the possible transmission of infectious diseases in Ethiopia and the region. 

About Clinical trial directorate (CTD)

Since its first initiation of GCP compliant clinical trial in 2001, the Clinical Trial Directorate(CTD) conducts various drugs, vaccines, and devices trials; as well as Bioequivalence and pharmacovigilance studies. In addition to clinical trial facilities, CTD and acquired experiences in setting up collaborating satellite trial sites in several health care facilities in Addis Ababa and beyond. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Contributes to the quality and timely conduct and delivery of clinical laboratory tests 

  • Carrying out and coordinate the day to day laboratory operations including but not limited to sample collection and ensuring its proper collection from health facilities & transport of samples to the lab, conducting clinical lab tests according to pertinent study procedures, study Protocol & SOPs; and ensure proper recording & documentation of all pertinent study documents.

  • Plan and/or assist in securing the necessary lab resources and facilities for conducting the research projects as necessary 

  • Contribute to the quality and timely conduct and delivery of clinical laboratory tests 

  • Provide laboratory test services as deemed necessary

  • Prepare or assist the PI or study coordinator in preparing laboratory plan, budget, procurement in research projects 

  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the principal investigator and/or the director.       

Job Requirements

 Qualification& Experiences:

EducationBSc in Medical Laboratory Technology

Experience:        

  • Minimum four  years of experience in Clinical laboratory tests in medical laboratories. 

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical research related activities is an advantage

Other Competencies

  • Strong interest in laboratory research 

  • High personal motivation and willingness to work most of the time in the field 

  • Training in GCLP and QMS is an advantage.
