Job Title: livelihood Officer

Sector: Food security and Livelihoods

Duration: one Year with Possible extension 

Location:  Amhara Region, North Wollo Zone, Bugna and Lasta woredas

Nexus Ethiopia is starting the implementation of the multisectoral Integrated Early Recovery and Humanitarian Response in Education, Protection, Livelihood & Well-being of Amid and Post-Conflict Communities in North Wollo Zone, Bugna and Lasta Woredas. The project integrates Child protection, Education, MHPSS, Food & Livlihoods support.

Nexus Ethiopia program is implementing an Integrated Multi-sectoral supporting conflict affected communities in Amhara Region, North Wollo Zone,  Bugna and Lasta woredas. The response aims to bring greater impact to the affected populations through multipurpose cash, agriculture, livelihoods support and skills development. The livelihood officer is expected to manage the implementation of the livelihoods and food support activities of the project including food support, skills training, organizing targets in Self Help Groups, provision of start up capital, Business Development services (BDS) and regular follow up. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop action plan of the project

  • Conduct market assessment and feasibility study 

  • Identify targets in collaboration with the woreda key stakeholders

  • Train youth and other project targets on basic business skills, saving & credit and establishment of SHGs

  • Facilitate project review meeting, field visits and meeting with key project stakeholders

  • Conduct regular follow up and support to SHGs and youth groups

  • Link SHGs with local micro finance institutions or banks 

  • Provide key information and data to MERL Manager

  • Develop progress reports of the project

  • Capture pictures, videos and success stories of the project 

  • Ensure strong documentation and communication

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • MSc/BSc Degree in Agricultural Economics, General Agriculture, and/or related agricultural field of study or certification, Management, cooperatives and other related

  • Minimum work experience of 3 year for MSc Degree holders, 5 years for BSc Degree holders - NGO experience  especially a direct experience in similar projects is mandatory.

  • Demonstrated experience in humanitarian response, with specific experience in livelihoods and Food security and agricultural development approaches.
