Job Title: Sewing Machine Technician/Mechanic

Location: Mekelle, Tigray

Set up, installation and repairing of sewing machines, attachments and all equipment related to textile industry.

Maintenance undertakes scheduled and breakdown maintenance of engineering equipment related to sewing machines.

The work typically involves:

• Ensures operation of machinery, mechanical & electrical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on sewing machines, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

• planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance.

• responding to breakdowns

• diagnosing faults

• repairing equipment

• supervising technical staff and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation

• creating maintenance procedures

• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using different mechanical and electrical tools.

• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.

• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

• Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Job Requirements

Education:  BSC Degree in mechanical or Electrical Engineering/ College Advanced diploma in mechanical or Electrical Engineering or College diploma in mechanical or Electrical Engineering or 10th or 12th grade or mechanical vocational school Or TVT completed.

Work experience:

• 4 years’ experience for BSC degree.

• 5-6 years’ experience for college advanced diplomas.

• 7-8 years’ experience for college diploma.

• 9-10 years’ experience for mechanical vocational schools.

of relevant operational experience in international companies, preferably related industry experience.

• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

• Computer skills and MS Office pack (Excel, word)

• Working well under pressure

• Relevant technical knowledge
