Frontieri Consult PLC is a leading research and consulting firm with offices in Ethiopia, Germany, South Sudan, Kenya, and Uganda. Established in 2008, our core mission is to empower organizations and communities by providing data-driven solutions that drive socioeconomic progress. We are seeking a skilled Data Manager to join our energetic team of professionals.
This role is a core part of our mission, responsible for ensuring the integrity and strategic value of our data across all projects, from research and advisory services to advancing technology. We believe in fostering an environment where employee well-being, personal growth, and career advancement are embedded in our culture, allowing aspiring talented professionals to grow their potential while working with the best in the industry.
We are seeking a Data Manager to manage the complete data lifecycle for our consulting and research projects. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data management systems to ensure data is collected, cleaned, validated, and reported with the highest standards of accuracy and security.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical proficiency with mobile data collection platforms, including Survey Solutions, ODK, and Kobo Toolbox. The position requires a professional who can handle complex data challenges, perform advanced analytics, and contribute to the evolution of our data operations. You will be responsible for ensuring data integrity from the point of collection through to final delivery, supporting the firm's transition towards a comprehensive data science consulting model.
Data Systems and Quality Control- Design, program, and manage mobile data collection tools like Survey Solutions, ODK, and Kobo Toolbox. Implement our 8-dimension data quality protocols and automated data-cleaning procedures. Proactively identify and address data-related risks to ensure projects stay on track.
Analytics and Reporting- Perform statistical and qualitative data analysis to generate insights for consulting projects. Develop professional dashboards and data stories using Power BI and Tableau. You will also assist with data extraction and reporting as needed.
Technical Innovation- Execute predictive analytics and machine learning implementations, and support API integration and automation projects. Contribute to internal R&D initiatives and evaluate new technologies to enhance our systems.
Project Management & Collaboration- Coordinate data operations across research teams, field teams, and external partners to ensure seamless project execution. Oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex data products, ensuring they meet and exceed client expectations.
Training & Mentorship- Provide technical guidance to staff and field teams on best practices for data collection, cleaning, and analysis. Support junior data analysts and contribute to our organizational knowledge base by documenting processes and lessons learned.
Strategic Contribution- Assist in developing new service offerings and contribute to business strategy discussions with your experience and insights. Represent the team in client meetings to provide data expertise and support.
Education & Experience - A Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is required, with a Master's degree being preferred. You must have a minimum of 4–6 years of professional experience in a data management role, preferably within a consulting or research organization.
Technical Expertise - Strong proficiency in survey design and programming with digital platforms like Survey Solutions, ODK, and Kobo Toolbox. You should have proven experience in data cleaning and transformation using statistical software such as STATA, R, or Python, and be skilled in data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau.
Key Skills - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities are essential. The role requires strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. A solid understanding of data protection regulations and a proactive approach to addressing data-related risks are also critical.
