Job Title: School Principal
Location: Assosa

Pharo School Assosa, located in the culturally rich and resource-abundant city of Assosa, is seeking a visionary and results-driven Principal to lead its academic and administrative operations. As the capital of the Benishangul-Gumuz Region—known for its gold reserves, lush landscapes, and vibrant communities—Assosa offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of education in one of Ethiopia’s most promising frontiers.
This strategic leadership role demands a deep commitment to holistic education, student development, and continuous innovation. The Principal will ensure excellence in teaching, student welfare, staff development, and community engagement, while aligning all efforts with the mission and values of the Pharo Foundation.
Develop and implement the school’s educational vision in alignment with the Pharo Foundation’s mission.
Oversee curriculum design and ensure compliance with national and international standards.
Champion a culture of academic rigor, inclusive learning, and personal growth.
Integrate inclusive education practices and differentiated instruction across classrooms.
Monitor teaching staff performance and lead professional development initiatives.
Promote teacher-led research and pedagogical innovation.
Drive improvements in learning outcomes and digital literacy.
Align teaching practices with national curriculum frameworks and global benchmarks.
Specific Academic Responsibilities
Enhance English proficiency, STEM education, and life skills through targeted strategies.
Integrate project-based learning and innovative teaching methods across all grades.
Supervise academic departments and foster inter-departmental collaboration.
Facilitate cross-grade and interdisciplinary initiatives for academic coherence.
Ensure standardized assessments and transparent academic reporting.
Conduct regular classroom observations and feedback sessions to refine curriculum delivery.
Develop enrichment programs such as debate clubs, coding workshops, and academic competitions.
Oversee remedial and accelerated learning programs.
Promote effective use of educational technology and digital platforms.
Key Administrative Responsibilities
Monitor student welfare, discipline, and pastoral care with empathy and consistency.
Promote student leadership and voice through forums and mentorship programs.
Manage budgeting, procurement, and regulatory compliance.
Lead recruitment, supervision, and development of teaching and support staff.
Implement structured teacher appraisal and feedback systems.
Foster a school culture grounded in discipline, empathy, and accountability.
Ensure compliance with child protection and safeguarding protocols.
Build strong relationships with parents, communities, and education authorities.
Lead emergency preparedness and crisis response planning.
Maintain data-driven systems for school management and improvement.
Represent the school in regional education forums and government meetings.
Build strategic partnerships with NGOs, universities, and local organizations.
Lead parent engagement and transparent communication initiatives.
Oversee infrastructure maintenance, resource allocation, and vendor coordination.
Ensure compound cleanliness, landscaping, and environmental upkeep.
Supervise canteen operations to ensure hygienic, nutritious, and equitable food access.
Promote the school’s visibility and reputation through outreach and advocacy.
Lead succession planning and talent retention strategies.
Strategic Leadership Responsibilities
Develop and monitor the school’s strategic plan with measurable goals and KPIs.
Use data analytics to inform decisions and drive performance improvements.
Lead school-wide initiatives aligned with the Pharo Foundation’s innovation goals.
Identify training needs and coordinate capacity-building programs.
Foster a culture of peer mentoring and collaborative planning among staff.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in school management.
Demonstrated commitment to student-centered education and safeguarding.
Strong strategic thinking, communication, and people management skills.
Experience managing school operations and pastoral care is highly desirable.
International education experience is a plus.
